rkt.india Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 he got injured at wrong time.. i think if he would ve played australian odis.. he would ve impoved a lot :(( yeah
CoverDrive Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Dude heavy or muscular body does not make one a genuine fast bowler. One needs to have fast twitch fibers for that. Most of the genuine fast bowlers when they first came have been thing and lean. Watch Brett Lee' date=' Actor, and Bond, etc. when they first came they were as lean and thin as him. Another guy I tell you was Mohammad Zahid, he was as thin as 18 year old Ishant and was fiercely quick.[/quote'] so you also know about the legend that is Zahid. People on the other side are absolute nuts about him. from what i have seen was quite quick but he hardly played and got injured
rkt.india Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 so you also know about the legend that is Zahid. People on the other side are absolute nuts about him. from what i have seen was quite quick but he hardly played and got injured He had a career threatening back and leg injuries. He was bowled with leg injury by his captain when other senior bowlers had opted out of the match which certainly played a crucial role in destroying his career. He was the fastest bowler in the world at that time. he had taken 11 wickets on his test debut against NZ and that match was played in SL as a neutral venue. He was certainly quick over 150K in 1995-1996.
MCcricket Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 One lasting impression I have of Zahid the thin fast bowler with un assuming action and mannerism had searing pace and made Lara jump and hop thru his entire spell and I think ultimately got him out also during that time got Tendulkar and other INDIANS surprised by the sheer pace.GAGOO MANDI EXPRESS. Three bowlers who I have seen had sheer pace and ability to be fantastic bowlers Bishop, Bond, Zahid and who would've been fantatic bowlers if not for injuries.
Sean Bradley Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 but what was your actual account? Us thread to dump hue to zamana guzar gaya. I was just a guest reader mate, Now a poster !

Another guy I tell you was Mohammad Zahid, he was as thin as 18 year old Ishant and was fiercely quick. This is the true science behind generation of pace. I read sometime back that there are two kinds of fibers: white and red (?). It's the white type fast twitch fibers that generate twitches (read speed) in muscles. The white fast-twitch fibers generate anywhere between 30-70 twitches per second whereas the slow-twitch fibers generate only about 10-30. IIRC Shoaib Akthar's twitches were measured in the range of 60+. Also typically the fast twitch fibers act for short term bursts so you will see most sprinters, weightlifters, fast bowlers, fast pitchers having fast twitch fibers or exercising them. Whereas slow twitch fibers generally add stamina - think Kapil Dev - the bugger used to run from home to sector 16 stadium wearing his boots around his neck at the age of 16. Slow twitch fibers are the ones that long distance runners and endurance sportsmen tend to focus on. Batsmen, Medium pacers, etc. Although they are not genetic, they do tend to develop very early in life and their development seems to be based on two key factors (apart from others) - how early in life you tend to use those muscles. So if you start bowling fast from the age of 10-12 and just bowl fast, or you learn to sprint from such young age 9or even earlier) then you will end up developing them quickly and building muscle memory that automatically brings fast-twitch fibers into action. Secondly, its the development in the science of training. So if you are made aware of these things early in life and a sports trainer who knows his sh!t guides you from an early age then you have a good chance of developing them. Edit - I italicized the above to emphasize that intuitively Paki, Aussie, WI, Saffer speedsters seem to know what to do to employ those kinda fibers when they coach their kids. I am not saying that this is by design but just thru generational wisdom passed on from Mohammed Nissar to Wahab Riaz; Fred the Demon Spofforth to Shaun Tait; Learie Constantine to Kemar Roach; Peter Pollock to Dale Steyn. They seemed to have intuitively learned that science without realizing that it truly is a science...who knows?
Prakat Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 What we do know is that Vijay is willing to stretch things as far as needed in order to rule out genetics playing any part in developing fast bowlers.
rkt.india Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 What we do know is that Vijay is willing to stretch things as far as needed in order to rule out genetics playing any part in developing fast bowlers. It is a combination of multiple things. Genetics is just one thing. Not every Australian or West Indian is a genuine fast bowlers, same with Pakistanis.
peterparker Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 advice him to pick wickets...and noel david is still alive
Vijay.Sharma Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 What we do know is that Vijay is willing to stretch things as far as needed in order to rule out genetics playing any part in developing fast bowlers. You still believe genetics is the key to bowling fast? A south Indian brahmin who never ate non-vegetarian stuff bowled 145+ when he arrived on the scene. He was as thin as an effing fiddle. A north Indian jhat who ate meat all his life could not muster 90 mph ever in his career. He was built way better than the southie at the age between 19-23 and yet could not produce the speed of the southie brahmin. A maharashtrian short fellow bowled faster than the jhat ever did even though he was pint sized and looked like he could be poofed away. The fact is you are not aware of these fiber mechanisms and biology. So acquaint yourself with the info / knowledge first before accusing me of stretching things stupidly. Google is a good starting point. Edit - If everything was genetics then there is absolutely no way any specie in this world coulda survived in an environment that was even slightly different from where it was brought up. Go learn about epigenetics if you wanna understand the larger perspective. You should know by now that I dont involve myself in threads where I have no knowledge.

speed_demon Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Were there speed guns around when Srinath burst into the scene ? I would say for srinath of the old you don't need a speed gun to judge him, the hops and sways of the batsmen was a. Good indicator that they were pissed off with his speed.

Go learn about epigenetics if you wanna understand the larger perspective. You should know by now that I dont involve myself in threads where I have no knowledge. You have jumped into a discussion with me on the basis of certain assumptions that are a persistent feature of your thought processes. To pick just one, I'd go with your propensity for reacting emotionally whenever genetics is mentioned. You took that as your cue for launching into one of your tirades that concern your hangup about "southie physique vs. northie build". So much so, that you start your post intending to school me on genetics then instead speak about how vegetarian diet does not prevent you from bowling fast??? And how a 'Jhat' who ate meat could not match him in speed??? Genetics to diet while pretending to talk coherently? Fact: Fast twitch muscles are genetics. Genetics determine how much percentage of fast twitch muscles you have. A southie Brahman is just as likely to be genetically predisposed to have a lot of fast twitch muscle fibers as is a Caribbean or a Pakistani or a Dutch-South-African. Speaking of genetics does not always compute to northie vs. southie or anything racial. You instead make a completely false statement: "Although they are not genetic..." while claiming to know more about it and suggesting that I need to acquaint myself with the subject. The bit where you were doing the stretching follows shortly with: I italicized the above to emphasize that intuitively Paki, Aussie, WI, Saffer speedsters seem to know what to do to employ those kinda fibers when they coach their kids. You are quite eager to invoke intuition (when did that become restricted to races/nations?) and passing down of arcane knowledge about muscle training from one generation of another among the windies, saffers and pakistani bowling ranks. Instead of accepting the more reasonable hypothesis that these players were particularly genetically-equipped to be good fast bowlers - than say, Richie Richardson, Sobers, Border, Mark Waugh, Boucher or Hansie (I leave the pakis out as you know they can all bowl fast, everyone of them - after all, they are genetically eating more beef.).
Ultimate_Game Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Fast bowling is all about technique and action. The physique helps the bowler withstand the rigors of fat bowling but a good physique by itself doesn't enhance speed in any way.
vayuu1 Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 ^ it's Jaat not Jhat. :giggle: . It's jat not jaat ,jaat means cast ,jat u know and jhat well ....:hysterical:.Kati jati hai.
vayuu1 Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Anyway this guy looks like young munaf patel I hope he doesn't turn out in the end like him.
Crookbond Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 so is there any consistent bowler who will get wickets in all conditions ? Yes, Dale Steyn.
