A word for Rohit

Unless he learns pretty quickly how to place a ball and steal 1s & 2s he will soon be a liability in ODIs. Due to lack thereof he struggles to keep the tempo going. Am his big fan and hope he learns this aspect quickly.

Crunch knock when we needed it. ANother wicket at that stage and the chase could have been derailed. And that pull shot for a 6 was perhaps the shot of the tournament so far.

He depends on some great shot after series of dot balls. That is why he looks good on the eye but results are average.

I have said it before' date=' this kid is the best batting talent in ages. [b']He just has to play the 50 overs. I think Kohli's test stint has also given him great confidence. Same needs to happen for Rohit.
Actually Kohli has been racking up the runs since the start of his ODI career. Sure he has been simply magnificent recently but he had cracked ODIs even before he made those solid Test runs at Perth and Adelaide. Rohit made his ODI debut five years ago and yet we're still talking about him in terms of talent and potential rather than outright achievement like Virat

His pretty little shots mask the real issue. In other words he is not a complete batsman like Kohli. He is a good timer of the ball. As a result he is able to play some breathtaking shots. But in between he just gets stuck.

Wouldn't matter in tests. High time he is given a run in test matches.

TBH , I think he is a class. But he gets out so casually... Test match is like a long drive. Someone in the middle has to constantly remind him.... SAAVDHANI HATI..DURGHATNA GHATI

Agree he didnt get singles as smoothly as Kohli but he has a knack of putting away the bad delivers like the 6 off Ajmal and 4 from Gul. He probably has as much/more talent than Kohli just needs better concentration at times and better play off the front foot.

He will have a better Test career than in the ODIs. He is similar to VVS. In ODIs he plays strokes and gets frustrated if they go directly to the fielder as a result start playing airy shots.

Great shots. But needs to improve rotating the strike. .. any chance when Kohli collided with Rohit' date=' something got transferred into Rohit body? kidding :cantstop:[/quote'] This.He should rotate strike..i don't know why he can't do that.Yes a good supportive innings...

he does alright when he has time to build an innings. but he cant start hitting it when u need quick runs. he isnt a flexible ODI batsman like a raina, for example. dunno why they persist with him in the ODis, the guy isnt cut out for this format of the game.

I would agree that he might work out better in tests. His batting is more suited to test mold where there is no urgency of scoring runs and field is a lot more spread out.

1s 2s will come too. They come once the batsman gets used to spending time in the middle. He has not been getting enough chances. Worst thing happened to him was, when he was not selected for WI tests, after a good run in ODIs there.
