You have to keep at the back of your mind B'desh have players like Tamim and Sakib. A Tamim 100 can very well put B'desh in a position to overhaul 280 odd' date=' and against the likes of Dinda, PK etc. no score is ever safe. I think we messed up big time when we could have batted them out of the game. Not to say that our bowlers are exempt of all blame, but they suck big-time and frankly we never had much hope from them. Our batting has been our strength and they should have finished off the match when they had the chance.[/quote'] Rajesh: "Congrats to Sachin for his 100th intl. ton !!! Focusing on this match, has the slow innings deprived India of a big total?" from the cricinfo commentary. Anyone who saw the match could understand this. It is not like people questioned his slow innings only after defeat. Even when the innings was in progress it was very obvious.

Tamim Iqbal scored 70(130) on that pitch, the other top order bat scored 53(68). At least some part of calculation/reading-pitch was right by SRT,Kohli and team? What about defending lesser score against a better team (SL), with same $itty bowlers?

The way Lankans have played this series they were clearly the weakest team and they were in no way better than B'desh. In fact if Loins hadn't conceded the bonus point against Pakis we would be in the finals coz then all the other 3 teams would be tied on points and we had a better NRR.

That response was predictable - now that we have seen all the results. Why don't try to write down the algorithm for the players/team in the middle to come up with the target to set - with the information/data-points they had at the hand on that day. The least I expect from you is to give more weight-age to the recent matches and performances till that date, rather than some one year old scorecard with different set of players. Kohli/SRT/Team reckoned they were targeting for 270-ish.

I don't buy that. Under lights ball was going to come on nicely. Against our pop gun attack it was going to be cake walk from the get go. Indian batting >>>> Indian bowling. Par score for our bowling on that surface was well over 300. Usually teams try to double the score from 30 overs. With 9 wickets in hand India should have done it effortlessly. Our score was 153/1 in 30 overs. 150 in the last 20 overs against a team that was missing one of their bowler due to injury should not have been a difficult thing at all. If India had experienced a collapse i would agree why they went slow. It was not the case.. India had lost just 2 wickets until 46th over. Acceleration should have started long back.

The point is not whether the initial target the Indians thought safe was 270 and they surpassed it. The main point is that they were in a position to score much more but they didn't. You always re-assess your target score in the middle and if you are in a position to score more, you do that. I mean let's say that for a venue target score of 300 is supposed to be above-par and when you are batting you reach a position where you can score 330. In that case I would expect the batsmen to score 330 and not limp along to 300 from that position just because they had set 300 as their target score and were satisfied. In B'desh batting under lights is always easier due to due factor and the ball seems to come on to the bat. And given our lack of bowling resources, we are one team that can't take it easy while setting a target.

Ok fine. the whole bunch is lying - to protect the selfish pursuit of one man. (That is some serious allegation on integrity of whole team). Please do D/L kind of predictor formula for the benefit of the team, so that they can keep track of the target to set. It seems their estimations are failing.

Yeah, how can someone who was claiming to be unaffected by the hundredth hundred till last week and then proclaim it as having lifted X number of kilos off his back ever by lying? We have established today that Praveen, Pathan, Dinda, and Ashwin >> McGrath, Gillespie, Kasprowizc, and Hogg and India fielding >> Australian fielding. Yeh thi aaj ki seekh.

Not thinking about it /= unaffected So, if he said he was thinking about getting his 100th 100 - selfish midget. It's a lose-lose situation for him. Can't believe I'm explaining this to you.

Badi seekh ye hai ki, one can safely refer to one off sample of 6 year old match to predict the course of a match today - with 1000s of different parameters - all the simulation done mentally. Why I am not surprised that it is coming from a statistics ka bhagwaan.

The point is that all sportsmen, including cricketers, and Tendulkar say things in the media which are not true on occasions. I've got nothing against Tendulkar making things up in the media about not being affected by the milestone - he would have done the best he thought to handle whatever pressure. Doesn't make him someone whose word should always be taken at face value without any qualifications.

Bangladesh had chased down 250 runs against McGrath, Gillespie, Kasprowicz, and Hogg away from home, away from the subcontinent 6 years back when they were a much more crappy team. To paint it as if chasing 290 against Praveen, Pathan, Dinda, and Ashwin on a home grown patta is some sort of impossible challenge for them when they have improved as a team is delusional. Not to mention additional PP overs and exposure to T20 has made such scores less safe.
:agree: Indian team took them lightly. Even if we forget about turtle batting by Sachin, we were winning it easily since batting PP but then they dropped their intensity.

That is ironic. Once he says he does not play for milestones and then said 100th 100 was the toughest. That is so much contradiction.

What he said was people everywhere were asking about the 100th hundred be it room service everywhere so the pressure built up and he said in some innings in australia he batted well but luck did not favour him so every thing built up inside.

It means he cared for that 100 and played for it too. Otherwise, remember after how many years, he played Asia cup. He did not play in 2010 and 2008, don't remember before that. He could have easily rested from Asia cup like he was doing before.
