ViruRulez Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 My advice.. Stop "DEFENDING" players like a self-appointed lawyers.. yes you can express your disagreement and move on. Also respect view point of others. You can go upto a point. Moment you realize it is not worth it. Just move on. Don't be stuck there like a leech. ++ Agree completely. I had also made one or two posts saying Sachin seems to have changed and has made personal goals his priority rather than the nation. I have been a huge Sachin follower since my childhood but would not stop saying something just because I respect him. I still respect him but I also need to put my own views and mention the facts. Having said that, it must not be namecalling or using expletives if possible. But everyone must be free to express their views for or against any player.
Trichromatic Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 My computer was not working for few months and I shifted to Kolkata. So, I wasn't able to post here much. Later when I returned back, I was surprised to see the condition. I tried to be active again. But it's hard to post here. Most of time you won't want to even enter a thread which is filled with personal attacks, posts taking dig on players and members. Maybe mods can take several steps for improving quality of discussion. For the start, please set minimum character limit of posts to at least 10.
Jersey #10 Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 pussy cat :finger: :finger: you're scared :finger:
BERGKAMP Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 To 'streamline' things there should be a individual thread for each Indian player and all discussion regards them can go in there. It would cut down the number of new threads being made significantly.
vvvslaxman Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 Alright, in all seriousness can YOU (read the posters) do something about this? Start with maybe the following: a) Stop questioning moderation. The MODS do a fabulous job of maintaining a website with 100s of active users. You dont pay them, they take time off their life and work to keep this website clean. Maybe instead of opening a thread every 2nd day questioning xyz about moderation you can perhaps open a single thread once a quarter thanking them for giving all of us a platform where we rewind from daily grind and make new friends? b) Stop asking to ban xyz. If a person crosses the line bring it to the MODS, why act as judge, executioner and the jury?? We have all been there where lines have been crossed. c) Have a sense of humor. And be prepared to receive as much as you diss out? I have done my share of name calling and have been called by names, including by MODS themselves ( :cheer: ) but we had a laugh and moved on. Why take it to heart? Its all banter anyway and doesnt pay your paycheck. Keeps things in perspective. d) Just have a fun about it all. Stop being so serious. :) That is what most lack. They think adding :hysterical: at the end of a sentence make them look cool. But we all know they don't sleep unless and until they respond to each and every criticism .

Jersey #10 Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 you also proved my point and you're still talking :cantstop: ps- you just proved your own point by replying to the criticism. Go to sleep now
vvvslaxman Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 and you're still talking :cantstop: ps- you just proved your own point by replying to the criticism. Go to sleep now Basically you admit you are here to troll even in this thread.
Jersey #10 Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 Basically you admit you are here to troll even in this thread. You did it again! err...proved your point :cantstop: can't sleep?
vvvslaxman Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 We can organize the threads better.. i suppose.. that is one way to reduce the trolls.
akshayxyz Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 That is what most lack. They think adding :hysterical: at the end of a sentence make them look cool. But we all know they don't sleep unless and until they respond to each and every criticism . Can we have some stats on # of smilies used per post - esp in cricket-talk section? Having seen the live action for quite some time, I know who are the usual suspects, but cold numbers would be helpful. Sense of humor - there is no universal definition of sense of humor. What one group finds funny at a given time and context, may not be as funny for someone else, other group - and vice versa. So, let people laugh at whatever they find funny. And there is always a report-abuse button, that can be used for sick/derogatory/offensive remarks. And not to mention, one always have an option to ignore.
Trichromatic Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 We can organize the threads better.. i suppose.. that is one way to reduce the trolls. Yes. Forum probably needs be bit more organized. I have been noticed that many forums follow a certain way of organizing which remains good for even years. Any suggestions for ICF?
mishra Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 Looks like I am late.... Thread has allready taken its course...
urbestfriend Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 There are multiple trolls that have infected ICF these days 1) Bhakts who jump on anything and everything and starts defending their heroes 2) Haters who waits for any opportunity to rile up bhakts .. 3) Trolls who try to act humorous by acting as supporters of much hated players. 4) Some troll-kids who write nonsense just for the sake of trolling..
Sachin=GOD Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 There in lies the difference. The one you pointed was a genuine thread based on current event and OP's opinion. The ones I posted were all just spite threads. As long as we can't agree on that' date= things will continue to be as ugly as this. thats the problem - you think threads like the one I mentioned are "genuine threads based on current events" but I don't agree with you. Same is the case with BossBhai's threads - I may find them genuine but you may not.
Yoda-esque Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 ICF is not an exclusive or elitist club for posters to pontificate and pass judgement on the quality of posts.Nobody here is a cricket expert. So stop taking yourselves so seriously. There is nothing wrong in posting less than 10 chars or criticizing players as long as attacks do not get too personal. This forum works better than most other forums I have seen.Nothing to change here.
