Old guy Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 I'm just a backpacker/nomad. Pack your bags and leave for the match, what else. Yeah, buy that ticket. :winky: have u been laid off?:giggle:
Muloghonto Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 1.What I Meant was will to defend and see through spells. He Does not have the Temperament to do so agianst good ranji sides let alone top sides in international cricket.Attitude can only take u so far Basic technique is always important. Tell that to mr 'butt before wicket' Chanderpaul, the 'no pull shot' Steve Waugh, etc. Basic fact is, attitude can make up for technical deficiencies provided the person has shown willingness to improve his technique, show application and above all, value their wicket as if their life is on the line. Jadeja qualifies for most count. 2. .If you cannot see through spells and hang on it may be a drawback .But not being able to score slowly :hysterical: Again, 'dreadful dravid' was the same for the first few years of LOIs before he finally figured out how to rotate strike. 3.BS .Offcourse you will be circumspect when you start .But times are when you have to attack like his 1st innings against australia in 2001 or many such instances. One dimensional players cannot do it.V.v.s is not fluent stroke maker are u joking :hysterical: Again, either read the entire sentence or stop replying by cherry-picking. VVS was *NOT* a fluent strokemaker for the first 40-50 balls he faced. If you have tapes of VVS, go back and show me a few innings where he unleashed his patented flick through midwicket before he had 15-20 runs and 40-50 balls played in an innings. In over 150 innings he played, you will struggle to find more than half a dozen which does not fit the above pattern. 4.Jadeja is a failure in odi now he will be at test and hope you see it. If he is, then he would be cast aside. But it is the height of ignorance to try and evaluate a batsman's test batting capabilities based on batting at #6 or #7 in LOIs. Above all, he has earned the chance, as any triple triple centurions have.
Manny_Pacquiao Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 1-2 down, and since we are playing at 'NAG'pur, its has to be a SNAKE PIT...*evil laugh* thanks to my connections at the BCCI, i have finally gotten access to the surface that will be used for this test match. lets see those pasty looking mother****ers play on THIS: "oh by jove, whatever will we do old chap? they are going to be biting!" bwahahhahaha
Pagalpanti Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 ^:hysterical: Not sure who would be more worried about the pitch. India or England :cantstop:
Eternal Atma Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 We will win at Nagpur. The desire is there and a lot at stake. Couple of improvements in jaddu and dinda/awana.
Tridibans_16 Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 We will win at Nagpur. The desire is there and a lot at stake. Couple of improvements in jaddu and dinda/awana. What will be the response here if they fail to deliver?
Eternal Atma Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 What will be the response here if they fail to deliver? Hopefully nothing negative. I do believe they were not the right selections in that Pankaj should be ahead. Dinda has had a poor season this year but was strong last year. It's a lot of pressure on them but want them both to play and hopefully show some fight. Ishant is closing in on 50 tests and has learnt nothing and zero skill. Give others a chance.
Old guy Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 What will be the response here if they fail to deliver? nothing dinda is already hated and awana will be callled useless tundler:cantstop:
MCcricket Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 I see one more loss in Nagpur, we have made weak selections again, you think Awana, Dinda, Ashwin, Ojha will take 20 wickets.Only a double century might maybe helpus draw

Heck, might even Bhajji be recalled :giggle: Some posters will get back with how wrong the selectors were for dropping Zaheer as he just failed for 5 matches while Awana sucked in his only outing
Eternal Atma Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 Dinda can utilise nagpur bounce. Hopefully Awana gets reverse and conventional swing. We have dropped ZK our reverse swing specialist. If these guys just show some heart and eagerness I will be happy. I just hope Dinda don't get carried away with short pitched stuff.

They all started either significantly worse or similar technique to Jadeja, what they did have and only *ONE NEWBIE* has displayed in the side, is the willingness to put a price on his wicket. Pujara is a long way off from being a lock in the team ( 2 failed series and he is back on the chopping block) so i am all for giving the Pujara-Jadeja type temperaments an extended run, in the hope that either or both of them can make it to the top level. Jadeja has most definitely earned his call and if any player scores 3 triples in first class cricket in 15 months, that player deserves a 4-5 test period at the very least to get set at the top level. No if and or buts to it and i don't care if this is the fearsome foursome Indian middle order of 2002 or the Aussies or the Windies of the 80s. If you are not prepared to auto select someone who scores 3 triples in first class cricket in little over a season, you better have 50+ averaging players from position 3 to 7 or put a disclaimer on FC cricket as in, it means diddly squat.
Muloghonto Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 Wow Ravindra jadeja is being analyzed with bullet points.. quiet a progress :cantstop: Indians need to be realistic. Our spin bowling cupboard is really bare. We only have two spinners apart from the current ones who can amount to anything significant in the next 4-5 years. They are Shahbaz Nadeem and Harmeet Singh. Harmeet is atleast 3 first class seasons away from being a finished product and Shahbaz is not an upgrade on Ojha- he is a similar type of limited bowler who bores you to death type. This means we have to give Ashwin & Jadeja the exposure, for they can certainly hack it as a batting allrounder and a decent spinner at home with experience. This would, eventually allow India to be competetive overseas, as, assuming Jadeja and Ashwin click, we have two spinners in the top 8 who can make it work in Aussie/Saffie/English conditions, while extending our batting tail to #8 *AND* allow us to play 3 fast bowlers. This setup also allows us to field 3 spinners and 2 fast bowlers with a batting lineup 8 deep for flat/home conditions. Barring the sudden emergence of a young Harbhajan/Kumble type player, this is the setup that is the most favourable for India. And the time is now. Ashwin has had a torrid time with the ball, but he can only get better IMO and still represents a better upside than Harbhajan and with the Aussie series our last homestand before trips to England, South Africa and New Zealand, need the exposure to find their footing at this level.
virufan Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 If Jadeja can do better than Yuvraj in batting and bowling in the 4th test, he deserves a permanent place in the side.
Precambrian Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 Jadeja's FC stats over the last 5 seasons: 2008-09 - 776 runs @ 60, 45 wickets @ 20 2009-10 - 417 runs @ 38, 16 wickets @ 26 2010-11 - 392 runs @ 65, 21 wickets @ 33 2011-12 - 432 runs @ 87, 18 wickets @ 20 2012-13 - 794 runs @ 113, 24 wickets @ 21 Overall, 31 matches, 2812 runs @ 67, 7 hundreds and 10 fifties 124 wickets @ 23.12
TheWall Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 A loss will do good for Indian cricket. Excess baggages will be discarded. If we win - everything will be swept under the carpet...

But who knows test cricket might be his thing...As far as LOI's go,he looks mediocre but better than some of the legends who played for us in the 90's... If i had to bet though,I think he doesn't have what it takes to be a top-level international

If i had to bet though,I think he doesn't have what it takes to be a top-level international I feel Jadeja will be successful at the test level (atleast in India) as he doesn't have the powershots in ODI's and T20Is.Also he is a very good fielder. Our test team badly needs to fresh legs. Our fielding is shambles in tests: Liability: Zaheer, Ishant, Ashwin Mediocre: Viru, Gauti, Teenda, Ojha, Yuvraj (I havent seen him anywhere close to his earlier athleticism in this series). Good: Kohli, Pujara
