express bowling Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 Yaar. There were no speed guns at that time during matches. From naked eyes' date= even 135-140K looks quite quick. Batsmen now have also gotten better in terms of facing genuine pace. He must be quicker that that at his peak, but dont think Roberts was an express bowler. There have been only 3-4 express bowlers in history Thomson, Akhtar, Lee, Tait. Some say Frank Tyson was an express bowler too. Exactly. Even 135 to 140 k is quite quick. Current batsmen use bowling machines to practice playing 145 k deliveries. They have become much more fit too. The quality of protective gear has improved a lot also. So, a higher pace is required to trouble them.
