asterix Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 Looks like Mukunda has effectively managed to screw up his chances...
The Realist Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 The openers have been an unmitigated disaster on this tour. Does not inspire confidence beyond Sehwag & Gambhir (who themselves are shaky). Oh well there is always Murali "aeroplane" Vijay to fall back on...
vvvslaxman Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 Mukund probably wanted to hit his way into form. Failed at it. Back to Ranji like Badri.
vvvslaxman Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 #WIvIND: Mukund's runs on tour - 0, 0, 8, 8, 10, 20 - tough test for the left-hander. Johnson has picked him up 4 of 6 times with new ball
vvvslaxman Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 As much as Viru failed in England and OZ, he still can produce one of those blinders even there when in form. These current set of openers could barely survive against rookie bowlers 6 out of 6 times.
Old guy Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 no plz no sehwag :(( when u have shawan and mukund as openers it was always going to end like this
vvvslaxman Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 no plz no sehwag :(( when u have shawan and mukund as openers it was always going to end like this Since Sunny retired not a single opener looked good until we got Viru. Sidhu looked barely okay. He was clueless against angus fraser in England . Doing well as an opener is not an easy job for a subcontinent player. How many opener from Asia has actually done well in cricket history? Not many. These guys will be cannon fodder even in slight helpful conditions in India let alone Australia, England. Looking at domestic cricket i am not too thrilled with thechoices available. http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/stats/index.html?batting_positionmax1=2;batting_positionval1=batting_position;class=1;filter=advanced;orderby=runs;team=25;team=6;team=7;team=8;template=results;type=batting

vvvslaxman Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 ok we are over looking one thing ...rahane has now i think3 times played off new ball scored 30 odd and got out to spinner i always thoughthe will be next opener along with sehwag im not counting him off...mukund is done in my book... 2nd tour here and still clueless i always liked gambhir as opener i think if he can survive in south africa like he did then itsj ust matter of lil adjustment in technique and he will do well again but will he be willing to change anything and do the hard work ? sehwag will never improve and he looks like a 34-35 year old estindies @westindies #WIvIND: This boy Johnson is sensational! Another perfect outswinger and Rahane(2) reached out and touched it to the keeper. IND 23-2 your wish is granted. he got out to a seamer now :cantstop:
vvvslaxman Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 Can you agree now Rahane was epic :fail: on this tour after all the slogging in the IPL.
Old guy Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 i was gonna post that ^ :--D anyway now lets see will this match finish today or tomorrow :)
Old guy Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 Can you agree now Rahane was epic :fail: on this tour after all the slogging in the IPL. yes i go by results...no excuses ipl is now part of cricket if u cant adjsut even after 2-3 matches then ur not good enough to play
jind Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 dang rahane goes as well so from this tour..pujara will likely be inthe indian test team with rohit and maybe rahane in the 15 man squad. shami has impressed as well and is likely to be in the selectors mind...not right now but in the near future in case there are injuries
Old guy Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 now pujara goes :dontknow: i dont know who to blame bowlers or batsmen ? every one on interview said it was a flat track ..
