The odd action, the ability to fire in a yorker at will, the slower ball variations and of course, raw pace mean that the Sri Lankan is a tough guy to get away at any time in the game. WeÃ×e also seen the likes of Dale Steyn, Morne Morkel, Brad Hogg and Daniel Vettori bowl some very impressive spells in the fifth edition of the Indian Premier League but as hard you try itÃÔ hard to come up with the name of an Indian bowler who has consistently impressed. So, humour us, and tell us who is IndiaÃÔ best T20 bowler. Zaheer Khan, with his much-talked about hairstyle in tow, hasnÃÕ exactly been a revelation. In fact, heÃÔ been rather under-par. He is clearly IndiaÃÔ best bowler in Test cricket but in the IPL, heÃÔ looked ordinary. Umesh Yadav has looked good in spells but still doesnÃÕ have the consistency to make a sustained impact on the fortunes of the game. Varun Aaron, the other ÃÇast bowler, still isnÃÕ playing. Ashish Nehra has been hammered all over the park regularly. S Aravind has fallen away. Ashok Dinda is good in one game thatÃÔ when his jump reminds Allan Donald of himself or so weÃ×e heard and downright average in another. ŪtÃÔ a tough question because it exposes the fact that IndiaÃÔ bowling cupboard is rather bare. The only names that I can come up with are perhaps Parwinder Awana, who should have got a shot India â? and Praveen Kumar. Munaf Patel has done well too but other than that there is no one, said veteran cricket writer Ayaz Memon on Sportstalk. Indeed, a look at the top ten wicket-takers reveals that only three Indian bowlers have managed to make the cut. Munaf Patel, when he isnÃÕ angry and cursing the umpires, has impressed with his line and length to take 12 wickets at 18 with an economy rate of 7.10. Leg-spinner Piyush Chawla has also managed 12 wickets and his economy rate is an even more impressive 6.70. And the last Indian bowler to make the cut in the unheralded 30-year-old Amit Singh, who has ten wickets to his credit. With the Twenty20 World Cup around the corner, the Indian team management would need to give the bowling attack some serious thought. If you canÃÕ cut it in the IPL, then what are the chances of you succeeding in international cricket? With the tournament being held in Sri Lanka, the spinners will have to play a major role and who does India have in that department? űiyush Chawla has been very good. He did get hammered for 27 runs in an over but that was a one-off. He has been good and economical too. The T20 World Cup is a pretty long tournament too and the quality of players will be higher. So I feel that the performances in the IPL should be considered while picking that squad. Shahbaz Nadeem has been impressive for Delhi too. But other than that, IndiaÃÔ spinners have struggled, said Ayaz. Indeed, the likes of R Ashwin, Harbhajan Singh, Amit Mishra, Pragyan Ojha (who hardly gets a game despite bowling well) havenÃÕ done anything of note and perhaps a signal from the selectors might get them to put their best foot forward. Either way, if your bowlers canÃÕ protect a total, it wonÃÕ matter how many runs IndiaÃÔ batsmen manage to put on the board. shinchan Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 Dinda bowled better than any other indian bowler so far in IPL.piyush also bowled well but gone for run in 2-3 matches in crucial time. not sure about umesh though...even munna looked world class till he was bowling with malinga & when he got injured he was crap.
Needforspeed Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 I think Dinda bowled better than any of the Indian pacers as he has been leading the Pune attack whenver he played. Next best was Awana, and I hope selectors consider him for selection. Munaf Patel looked good only in matches when Malinga was playing. Since teams play Malinga with respect, they tend to go after the other bowlers, thus giving their wickets away. In Malinga's absence, Munaf has looked very ordinary. Umesh Yadav looked good in patches, but has a tendancy to spray it around. Among spinners Chawla, Ojha and Nadeem have looked OK. The major disappointments have been - Harbhajan, Ashwin and Rahul Sharma among spinners and VK, PK, R.P.Singh and Zak among the pacers.

Zak saved from total failure because of VK's presence in team Ashwin,Bhajji,Ojha all in same level - just good [mostly in economy] Nadeem is surprise package this year... Rahul sharma total letdown Chawla,Mishra,Kartik maintains their reputation so far VK is VK so does PK no need to comment

But seeing the way Ashwin and Rahul sharma have fared there is not much depth in the spin department. Chaiwala and Mkarthik did well but they wont do anything in INTL arena, MMW. Ojha is the only hope. Bhajinator is still crap and can only get into the team because he can bat a bit apart from his mediocre bowling

That is the problem for India. They are all capable of support bowlers not main bowlers. Only once i have seen an Indian seamer others wanted to play out to focus on others in T20 was in 2007 world T20 where RP was unplayable for many batsmen in the world.

Let vk, pk, nehra, dinda bowl alongside malinga and see the result. I would say Dinda was the best indian pacer before he got injured and struggeled after injury which is not unusual. He maybe still vary of injury. It was dinda who bowled superb yorkers against Gayle and abdv in the match where nehra conceded 24 runs in last over.
