JourneyMan
Yeah right! I agree with what Mark Butcher said last night on ITV. Of course they deserve to be there. They played their matches and got their points. RR, Punjab and RCB had their chances and failed to take them. RR and RCB failed to beat the bottom team of the league to qualify. They still deserve to be there!? Hell no. RCB can sit down and think about their game against CSK where they posted a massive total and still got hammered in the death overs by Albie Morkel. Sidhoni
ghanta! RCB lost to last placed DC and hence they do not deserve it. We deserve it, we have more points and a better NRR than other sides. :dontknow:

They still deserve to be there!? Hell no. RCB can sit down and think about their game against CSK where they posted a massive total and still got hammered in the death overs by Albie Morkel. By the same logic CSK can sit down and think about the game against MI, where the last 3 balls were hit for 6,4,4 off Hilfenhaus bowling by Smith. So going by your logic MI never deserved to win that game. PWI can sit down and think about the game against RCB where RCB won by scoring 24 off the last over including a last ball 6. By your logic RCB never deserved to win that game. PWI can also sit down and think about the game against MI, where chasing 120 to win they lost by 1 run. MI probably never deserved to win that one either. DC can also sit down and think about the last ball six by Rohit Sharma against them. MI never deserved to win that game either. So if CSK did not deserve to win that game, RCB did not deserve to win their game against PWI and MI did not deserve to win 3 of their matches, by the logic of OP only DD and KKR deserved to reach the play-offs. Iam sure others here can recall a few more last ball finishes.
The Dark Horse
Then change the points system.
vamos_rafa
I don't really think that this deserving and all really matters. The point system is the same for all. Also, CSK had 2 washouts. Don't know what would have happened in those games had they been played. They could have ben table toppers or even could have crashed out.

They had their chance, they failed to take it.
Magneto
RCB is clearly at fault for not being able to gain a decent NRR advantage even after scoring 215 against DD. That too a DD team without Sehwag.

Sehwag1830
^^^ Well they tried by resting Sehwag and Taylor. But your team didn't grab the chance. All you had to do was dismiss Warner early.

On the contrary most of the runs Taylor scored was on Murali. And it was his innings that didn't allow RCB to have decent NRR
