West Indies managed what India couldn't do in 4 tests

Diasagree. India had the better of the bowling conditions at Lords and Trent Bridge. The ball swung a mile on the 1st days of both tests when India were bowling. We lost those matches in spite of getting the more favourable bowling conditions.
There was swing on day one and occasionally on other days - which is the way it is in late summer. India would have cut an even more sorry figure had they toured a bit earlier. The early summer in England has more swing due to the cold and humid conditions ( typically 10-15C temperatures), which increases air density, the lift force also increases with the density of the air.

Srilanka did much better than us.. They toured only a month before us. India just lost the plot there. Panauti duncan brought all the bad luck to us.
:agree: Why cant they make Fleming coach?he was a great tactician and has done well with csk

If you want to be number 1 you have to be good in all conditions. Swing, turning pitches, flat tracks, whatever. Hot weather/cold weather, high altitudes/low altitudes. India have a whole bunch of players now, they should really start looking into having distinct test and limited overs teams. Obviously the whole team won't be different, but they need to pick out certain players who are better adapted to one format or the other.

He wouldn't even take the NZ coaching job (closer to his family) considering the good pay for CSK for a tournament 1.5 months in length.

That's what's going to rub onto your batting line-up if you have a tail-ender in MS Dhoni as captain. His stupid slash in the first innings at Trent Bridge arguable cost us that match, and then the series. The 2nd innings? He padded up to an inswinger. Loser.

this pitch is as flat as a pancake. it is the same as a typical chennai pitch. reason is because the ecb know the windies batting is shite, and didn't want the match to be over in 2.5 days. tv, sponsers, nottinghamshire all would not be happy with that. they would never make a pitch like this against us.

yeah sure that's why ENG are falling like a pack of cards.

Difference is the intensity with which England have played in this series in comparison to last year. There bowlers have bowled with just 50-60% intensity yet and still they are winning.

Keep making the yengsters play in IPL/t20s instead of asking the budding players to go get real county cricket experience. How will we do well (talking abt next-gen) under 'all conditions, swing-seam...'?? We will get more plonk-the-front-foot and thump... Valthatys and Robin Uthappams! They will be deer in headlight against a decent swing bowler.

I am surprised at this, especially Broad and Bresnan bowling at least 4-5 miles slower than last year vs India. And considering there hasn't been much in the wickets too, me thinks this West Indies batting line-up is actually over-rated. But it was same vs SL too last year before India arrived, the intensity was well down compared to India.

they were up for our series because at the time we were world champs and no.1 test team, and we were giving it the large one months prior to the series (and rightly so). they were jealous and wanted to knock us down a peg or two and every player was pumped. these sl and wi series are meaningless to them because they know even england c team would hammer them.

we played bad last year but one thing to consider is Eng already played SL last year before us and were well prepared. this year they are just getting into the groove
