They are designed to boost the self confidence of fat and unathletic American people by projecting them as some kind of sporting heroes. How else can you explain the inclusion of bogus mindless American sports like Baseball, Netball, Counterstrike and fast food gobbling. On the other hand sports which require high levels of skills, like Kabbadi, kho kho, lagori, hide and seek, carrom, tyre rolling aren't even a part of the Olympics. :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::haha::haha: you troll in style too .

Number Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Joydeep and 2 more in boxing we missed out. Expected 1 medal in Archery but it was such a disappointment. lol 15 people thought we won't win more than 3. 12 of them voted for 0 or 1. take that you pessimists. :D
coffee_rules Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 We had world champs in Archery, Shooting and Boxing. I think Archery and Hockey were biggest disappointments. Athletics and others we were not world class anyway, we did better with final appearances in some events - discus throw, walking races and 800m (sfs). If we go by bronze count, we are placed at 26th in the world. A big honor. Doubled the count of 2008 olympics. :isalute:

This should be an inspiring lesson for our countrymen, showing how we are as good as any other country. All those mumbo-jumbos about lack of physical attributes etc should well take a hike now. Specially happy for boxers and wrestlers. These are primitive sports where it comes down to physical prowess, diet and very little dependence on latest technologies. Hopefully the wrestlers and boxers would now receive more attention from GOI and private companies. Speaking of private companies what do the IT giants, DLF etc do with their money? Sure enough they can sponsor a couple of athletes without breaking the bank.

[2] Almost all athletes in Olympics 2012 were backed by a private trust - Olympic Gold Quest, Mittal Champions Trust and London Gold quest. [3] The corporates have come forward earlier but because the money has never reached the athletes but filled in the pockets of the ministers hence, they are hesitant.
