Umesh Yadav - As brainless as ever

Recommended Posts

Just one bad match against a minnow is enough for the thread to be bumped :headshake:
A "bad match"? As of writing, Yadav was given 56% of runs and has bowled only 30% of overs. Given that it is a match against a minnow, it is appropriate to bump this thread. It shows that Yadav is a hot-cold bowler in ODI format.

The reason he has 5 good tests out of 9 but even there, his bad days are really bad like at SCG and Adelaide which has escalated his average to 32.

He was poor today' date=' no doubt.[/quote'] Err, depends on what you mean by poor. He was wayward, yes. But he produced several deliveries that were near-wickets and went for runs severely off of edges & wides. In short, he bowled like he was in a test match (where most of those wides would not be wides). Umesh has never been a limited overs bowler. Its simply because if anyone has ever watched Umesh bowl, right form the time he was in Australia, he is an all-attack mentality bowler, who does his best when he is in the all-attack mentality unfettered. Unfortunately, Umesh is not that Good. Atleast, he does not have great amounts of control. So he will be more potent an option in tests than ODIs or T20s for the foreseeable future.

Thank you for stating what has been known to most indian fans. Now only if selectors knew this. Btw your power of articulating your thoughts is exemplary :hatsoff:

It was an ODI. He bowled too much on pads and down leg. Yes, he is attacking bowler, but even Brett Lee was attacking bowler and is one of the best ODI bowler ever. And I know where he is going wrong. It his action at delivery stride which is not balanced. Watch his last 3 balls of 4th over if he can stick to that action and stride he can be good in all formats. Bowling too close to the stumps is not working for him. His head falls away.

Has now possibly blown his chance to be added to the test squad anytime sooner. Another 3-4 wickets on this pitch and he could so easily have forced the selectors to send him as an extra member to England with the test squad. Him being a poor ODI bowler cannot be an excuse to not bowl well on such a bowler's paradise.

Such a talented guy cannot realize his talent. We might lose another talent.
The captain must show confidence in him. He has had a very good test career so far by Indian standard, his SR is excellent by any standard. Yes he gives away a few extra runs but we need quick wickets in test cricket. Now instead of preparing for the England tour he's made to play meaningless ODIs against BD. The talent must be nurtured, unfortunately that hasn't happened. He will eventurally drop his pace to concentrate on line and length and then we know what happens next. :((

Has he run through a side ever in his career. like 4 or 5 wickets in a matter of 5 or 6 overs?... I mean that is the kind of pace bowler i am looking for. Someone who can run through a side . Even at domestic level?
I don't think we have any such bowler. At domestic level, I only remember deepak chahar doing that once against Hyderabad. The nature of our pitches will never allow for such performances
