Old guy Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 Dont need pujara in the team . Unlike in the past ' date=' bar shewag every other bat can play steady if required .[/quote'] raina failed there ...rohit failed there yuvraj idk abt him had good first tour struggled last time when he played i think so actually if pitches help bowlers we are gonna be in trouble we do need solid players there

Unlike in the past ' date=' bar shewag every other bat can play steady if required .[/quote'] A guy like Pujara can be a cushion for hitters like Yuvi and Raina.if u remember in the cb series,we would lose 5-6 wickets for 150 runs and Raina used to slog, just to get rid of the pressure

audioman Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 ODI's hes not struggled anywhere He was bounced out in the WI (in two different tours), struggled in Australia and missed the slog to midwicket badly every single time, did well in England, cr@pped in RSA and got outperformed by even Yusuf Pathan.
Old guy Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 its more to dow ith form than anything else imo ' date=' but if you have to , I would pick Rahane[/quote'] rahane will be there for sure and yes 3 solid guys are enough for odis and its not like they cant play quickly rahane proved in ipl tht he has enough shots atleast for odis

Old guy Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 btw since u already forgot his innings.. let me remind u test match 3 was at perth and he batted so well there

SL team gets ****ed by our team

Raina simply played the odds there and it paid off for a little while. He still has NO other gameplan against the short ball, other than playing the odds all over. If it works, I would still be ok with it. Ganguly pulled off the same for a brief period. But going by Raina's scores in Australia, it does not seem like it worked.

jairamesh Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 I know it's premature, but would love to see one of Unmukt Chand or Suryakumar Yadav thrown into ODIs as openers. Especially Yadav.
rkt.india Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 I know it's premature' date=' but would love to see one of Unmukt Chand or Suryakumar Yadav thrown into ODIs as openers. saneindian Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 I know it's premature' date=' but would love to see one of Unmukt Chand or Suryakumar Yadav thrown into ODIs as openers. Especially Yadav.[/quote'] As you say its too early. Both are yet to play even for India A. Surya, going by his batting style looks set for a ODI career sooner than later. Needs one moe good domestic season to be in the reckoning. Also, for batting slots in ODIs to open up, Sachin has to quit playing the ODIs and perhaps Sehwag as well. Sachin will surely play the next set of ODIs at home (vs Pakistan) meaning Rohit and Tiwary both will go out and everyone will move down by a position to accommodate honorable MP saahib. Even Sehwag may not last long in the ODIs gven his absolutely shoddy fitness.
achilles Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 Raina's performance speaks for him. He must be elevated. Maybe he can come in before MS and after Virat and Yuvraj.
Vilander Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 Raina has done well in SC we should not get carried away.
carnish Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 Indian ODI lineup in SC should be Sehwag Gambo Virat Raina Rahane MSD Tiwary Irfan Ashwin Zak Dinda
Ultimate_Game Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 Indian ODI lineup in SC should be Sehwag Gambo Virat Raina Rahane MSD Tiwary Irfan Ashwin Zak Dinda Rahane at 5 after Raina The guy is a top order bat. What do you expect him to do coming in around 40th or 45th overs?
