Don't understand this sudden clamour for Uthappa. Its not as if he was reeling ton after ton and was dropped by selectors unfairly after that. This is what his ODI log looks like: LINK Only one half century in last 23 innings completed!

if fifty is criteria how raina is in in team...In last 23 innings he had scores like 44 47 30* 47* 11* 15* 0* check how many not out innings b4 coming to conclusion and he is mainly opener but played in lower order...some times stats dont give correct idea..

Sorry to say but Raina has 6 half tons in his last 23 innings. Raina has 3 half tons against Lanka...he is like VVS against lanka..1 against bangla and 1 against est indies failed in cb series still he is good finisher..

now check uthappa's good scores all against australia and england in their conditions..

11-12 good scores in 34 innings....1 good innings per 3 matches is it bad?? I think some of our player plays 1 good innings after 5-6 matches and no words for class act..

I would say Pathan,virat,tiwary ,ashwin are the positive of this tour apart from dhoni and raina, though yadav and dinda were bit of mix but yadav has really impressed with his pace and swing in the t20 I think Davies can deffo help him improve like he has helped pathan.tiwary in t20 wc can be a surprise package.

Well I have mostly seen Uthappa play in tough situations and do well. He played a 7 match series in England and won us a lost match by scoring 16 runs in the last over. In Aus in CB Series (2008) he gave us a solid start in both the finals to pave way for the win. Uthappa has been a very under-rated player and has mostly been played in tougher conditions. IMO he deserves at least a series in SC conditions as it's not fair on him to be picked up for bein played in Eng & Aus and when he does a so-so job be discarded. To me he should be in the squad as a backup wk-batsman so that we can either play him as a lower order batsman or play him to give Dhoni a break. In the current series I would have rested Dhoni for the last odi and T20 and played somebody like Uthappa. Right now if Dhoni goes down we have nobody to turn to.
