Raghav_12 Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 What you are saying in the 2nd para is irrelevant as we lost all the matches by good margin. Its not his fault that all other batsmen folded early. But Dhoni too folded, which was his fault. isn't it? Also, I was responding to your post where you pointed to Dhoni's average on that series.

Also, I was responding to your post where you pointed to Dhoni's average on that series.[/quote'] My point was people are calling for his head while his avg in 4 out of 7 tests he played, was better than Laxman, Gambhir, Sehwag, Raina and almost equal to Sachin and that is when he was WK batsman. Noone can expect a no. 7 to change the game on his own.

Actually No 7 can change a match ,you do not need to single handedly win matches,But contribute when you are in position of strength ,At mcg we were in very good position in 1st innings after dravid and tendulkar patnership ,same situation in nottingham we were in posiiton fo strength. Its these oppurtunities where game would have turned but he failed. He is know for doing well in odis in these situations but he fails in tests in last 2 years.

rkt.india Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 Yeah i remember srilanka but do you remember what happened in england when we toured in 2007 . But there Dhoni was the WK/batsman and he did well. Most of our batsmen did well in 2007 but the didn't well last year, so we cannot compare different tours.
rkt.india Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 No. It wasn't. Good 3-4 points less (but than Sachin didn't do great either on that tour.) Other than that his average his runs came in only third test and many in dead innings of that test. India lost that test Innings and 242 runs. In other 3 tests his scores were - 28,16,5,0,17,3. Bro when a team has 6 wickets down for nothing, match is already dead for that team.

Even at MCG first innings we were 6 down(Laxman, Kohli both out) and trailing by 100 runs. I don't think you can expect any WK bat in India to bail us out of that situation while batting with tail.
Raghav_12 Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 Bro when a team has 6 wickets down for nothing' date=' match is already dead for that team.[/quote'] Not always..Foe example In trent bridge test India was 267/5, in response to Eng's 221, when Dhoni had come to bat. If he had stayed on the crease with Dravid, we could have had significant lead which could have put pressure on Eng. But then Dhoni preferred to score grand total of 5 there. http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/474473.html

He needs to take some inspiration from Matt prior in that aspect.
ravishingravi Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 Laxman says Dhoni was inaccessible . He had been trying to get in touch to talk about his retirement. Sounds like the Dhoni we know
The Outsider Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 I can't believe there is a serious discussion going on about Dhoni's test batting! :hysterical:
Shunya Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 what are ppl crying for here...everyone wanted laxman to retire.... he was give his farewell tests...he decided to call it off and not play it...big deal...good on him... why is it so dramatized now... gangu telli's comments cannot be taken seriously..he has just lost ever since he got the mike... dramaqueen he has turned into...another reason why Indian Cricket will always remain same... players are adored and loved while they are playing...and once they become celebrities...they lose their senses and become very bad commentators, selectors, coaches or administrators... full of grudges against fellow players ... get over it...enjoy the successes of VVS, instead of cribbing over why he left and whose behind it...
Crookbond Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 'My comments on MSD misconstrued' "I would like to place on record that part of my comment on VVS Laxman's efforts to get in touch with skipper MS Dhoni was misconstrued. "What I did say was, 'In cricket at times you need to be available 24x7 as a captain'. It no way implied that Laxman doesn't enjoy his skipper's support or suggest that the situation would have been different (for Laxman) had he enjoyed the skipper's support," Ganguly said. http://www.espnstar.com/home/news/detail/item840590
Ultimate_Game Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 'My comments on MSD misconstrued' http://www.espnstar.com/home/news/detail/item840590 Phucking politician. Ganguly has become a "thaali ka baingan" now :haha:
rkt.india Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 I can't believe there is a serious discussion going on about Dhoni's test batting! :hysterical: People are trying to prove Dhoni should bat as a proper batsman.:giggle:
skindia Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 Inclusion of badrinath and raina in test squad suggests why laxman has been made retired
Crookbond Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 Phucking politician. Ganguly has become a "thaali ka baingan" now :haha: He was always a "politician". I hope he remembers he dropped Laxman from the 2003 WC team without communicating to Laxman. Quite ironic for him to ask for the same.
Sid Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 Kumble ,Dravid have also retired recently, but you dont see them passing statements like Gangu Teli does every odd day. This moron has very quickly forgotten he was part of this very team and setup 3-4 years ago.
