In the first inning there was a catch which fell short of slip which Sehwag made no effort to catch. Am pretty sure Dravid would have got it.

Ashwin to Williamson, no run, edged and Williamson has a life! He poked at one outside off and got an outside edge that went on the bounce to Sehwag at first slip, it looked like Sehwag didn't make an effort to get to the ball, if Dravid or Laxman was there...

Actually people forget that dravid has been pretty horrible in slips in last few matches. He had dropped way too many catches. So in effect our slip catching has improved in the short term

I still think slip catching is an area where these young guys are not as good as RD, VVS and Sehwag were just a few years ago. Overall yes, this is the most athletic unit I've seen.

Our catching has picked up Just watched Kohli taking a ripper off Bracewell, one definite positive from infusion of young blood has been the catching... Heck, even slowmos like Sehwag has taken a cue from these chaps and improved the close in catching.. a thing we experienced a serious decline recently.. thoughts?

I don't see why you are judging Zak in this match. There was no issues with his fielding. Even Ashwin wasn't bad TBH.

Athleticism means little in test matches compared to slip catching and outside the subcontinent you need three good slip fielders. Yeah Dravid and Laxman had declined towards the end but till a couple of years back both were brilliant in the slips. Haven't seen Pujara in the slips, but he has the reflexes to be good there.

This is one area where we wont be missing Dravid. His catching in the last couple of years went into this diabolical downward spiral. There's no way he was going to take that edge from Franklin's bat in the 2nd innings.
