SLICKR392 Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 Cook as kaaptan :yay: :hatsoff: to Sir Strauss!
Crookbond Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 He says he retires because he was not performing with the bat. For a captain to perform properly, you are not a passenger in the side. With my own energy levels and motivation, I wasn't going to improve batting wise. I have run my race. I would like to go out on my own terms and this is the right time.
carnish Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 Andrew Strauss .. 100 tests ... 50 tests as Captain ... 24 Wins 11 Loss ... 4 loss against Pak .. 3 against Saffers .. 2 against Aussies .. 1 against WIN and 1 against Sri Lanka ... 0 loss as captain against India .. :hatsoff:
carnish Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 21 Hundreds and 7037 Runs in 100 tests .. average of 40.21 ... Not an ATG player but most certainly an ATG test captain.. Kudos .. Humble Guy and a successful guy. Respect for not dragging on his career.
maverick451 Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 Well done struass on a great England career, he played some great innings for England, ill never forget the 150 against India in the 2011 world cup, I think that was a great innigns considering how weak he usually is against spin.
Stuge Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 I never expected him to retire this early Sent from my XT535 using Tapatalk 2
jairamesh Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 KP incident no part in his decision! :good: Someone who has publicly undermined his captain, called into question Strauss' batting ability, just puts unnecessary pressure and doubt on Strauss, eventually turning it into a self fulfilling prophecy. And the criticism from KP as currently England's premier batsman is all more chastening. I think the KP saga was a major factor. But at the end of day, Strauss probably made the right call.
King Tendulkar Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 Well done strauss. Decent skipper and decent batsman. A cricket gent as well.:two_thumbs_up:

It was a flat as pancake Bangalore pitch. Both sides scored over 330.
putrevus Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 Why this guy has one low as a captain they made him quit or he quit on his own. This was the team which was supposed to dominate world cricket for next decade. So much for world domination.

Sehwag1830 Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 World Cup hundred was my best knock along with lords ashes ton - strauss
putrevus Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 It's not that he is playing as batsman. No he is not he has retired from all forms of cricket and that is just chickening out in my book. It is not like this guy is too old, it is not like he wanted to quit when this current series started. As captain you should be able to guide your team thru tough periods. When everything is going smooth there is no need to have great captain and great captains have led their teams thru tough times and got their teams over that hump. This guy was given captaincy on the platter even though he never was the right one and his team has great success and first hint of trouble he is quitting.
