gaurav92 Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 What an effort by Amla He cam in not out on 49, his main task was to bat out session by session and rescue his team from a defeat.He did no different, he made sure that he batted out over by over, looked very composed, compact and his rock solid defence, made it really tough for Indians to knock him over.He saw wickets falling at the other end, but he didnt change his gameplan, his strategy was the same, bat out the entire day for his team to ensure that his team is no.1 in the ICC test rankings.He may not be a swashbuckling and a good to watch player, ut he certainly is very effective under these situations.When India got 7 wickets, it looked like Amla will shift gears and go for the big ones which is not his natural game, and in the end give up his wicket away cheaply.But he didnt, he made sure he hung about his business till the very end, he stringed some useful partnerships with the tail to make sure that he does his job by frustrating the Indian bowlers.There were as many as 5 men round the bat, but still he managed to keep the ball down to the ground, letting the fielders dissapointed.Yes there were a couple of streaky runs that he go, but still he never got defocused from his task.I dont know whether the game will end in a draw or an Indian win, the only thing I know is that Amla played a blinder of an innings, an innings that woud perhaps be the best from him, if Saffie managed to draw this game.Else it ll be just another slow hundred from him :cantstop: Discuss.

Top bat and a cool customer. Unfortunate he came so close to sealing the series for South Africa alas 9 balls denied them that.

He has been my favorite non-desi (semi-desi) player for a while now, and I would like to see him in the top 5 in the world consistently, with a huge 50+ average. Putting aside his batting feats, what a guy/personality he is. Pious, religious, simple, humble, with a foot long beard and a shaven head. Does not drink, does not smoke, walks when he knows if he's out. Even when he was called a terrorist by Dean Jones, his response to it was ready forgiveness. Hashim you beauty!
