Gilchrist wasn't great against spin either. Raina scored a 50 in the first innings which we should appreciate. He tried to smash Jeetan patel and go out, but you have to live with it when you chose an attacking batsman. Had he connected, it would have landed in the crowd.

Only a biased mind would think that Ashwin or Pathan look better than Raina. The man in your avatar scored a century in the same test match. Now, I am sure you would say Sachin played a match winning knock against the likes of Malinga and co. From what I have seen,Raina is the only Indian batsman who took on fast bowlers and hit sixers of them. He is bound to do well if we put less pressure on him.

His attitude is such, he can counter attack the opposition and take the game away from them within half hour. Ashwin has looked very accomplished as a lower order batsman and was better than many of the top order in Australia. He and Raina are certainly comparable. They have 1 test century each.

If he hasn't convinced he can be a test bat in this long, he will never do it in future as well. 7 years is too long enough for a guy to mould his game and it won't happen now. As simple as that. He is in the same boat as his equally illustrious predecessors Ajay Jadeja and more closely Yuvraj Singh. Giants in shorter formats and dwarfs in the bigger game.
