IBNLive: You've been compared to young players of Team India like Virat Kohli. How do you take the comparison? Unmukt Chand: I don't think I can be compared to Virat as he's been playing for India fantastically for the past 2-3 years now. Comparisons are normal, but it's important for me to stay focused and keep performing so that I can also achieve that level. Probably, this is not the right time to compare me to anyone. IBNLive: Who is your idol? Anyone you particularly follow in cricket? Unmukt Chand: I don't copy anyone specifically, but yes, Sachin has been my idol, I've grown up watching him bat. Of late, the way Virat has been playing has also been really inspirational.

Not really the kind of attitude he needs if he wants to succeed at the international level, at 19 improving in cricket should be his full focus if he is also sitting exams as a "backup" this will probably impact his chances of being a top player.

:facepalm: It is important to read, assimilate and then comment rather than shooting at every freaking opportunity!
IBNLive: Do you see yourself playing for Team India at the international level from here? Unmukt Chand: I've always dreamt of that, but it's a long way to go and I have to concentrate on my under 19 tours. I have to focus on that rather than thinking of playing international cricket in the future.

Its equally important to actually read the full article! The U-19 World Cup winning Team India captain, Unmukt Chand, has gone through a tough time on the academic front. But the Delhi boy is now happy to have got the permission to take his exams by the Delhi University and looks forward to focusing on his education.

Kapil Dev chides Unmukt for leaving training camp NEW DELHI: Former Indian captain Kapil Dev on Friday chided young cricketer Unmukt Chand for skipping practice for attending a Youth Summit and advised him to focus on the game. Unmukt, the Under-19 World Cup winning captain, attended India Today's Youth Summit to speak on cricket when he is supposed to play a match, which will also feature Sachin Tendulkar. Unmukt is part of the India 'A' squad which will tour New Zealand soon. The team is currently undergoing a preparatory camp in Bangalore. "What are you doing here? Why you have come here," is what Kapil asked him when he saw the youngster at the programme. "If I were his coach or manager, I would not have let him come here even if I was given a million dollars. I would have kicked on his backside for coming here," Kapil said in front of a packed audience mainly comprising youngsters. When the programme's host jokingly told Unmukt that he was lucky that Kapil was not his coach, the world cup winning captain said actually the youngster was 'unlucky' not to have him as his coach. "I would have made him work hard for the next three years so that he could live life like a king in the next 20 years." Both Kapil and Mohammed Azharuddin suggested Unmukt to "stay humble". "You are outstanding talent, a good player. What is the need to do this in public.If he felt so strongly about it,he should have told him that in private. What an immature act by the old man and what a mature response from the youngster.While Kapil is free to give his cricketing advice to him...I hope he himself learns some basic manners from the youngster.

:blink: Dude, read the interview not some chewtiyatic interpretation of the reporter. Also, whether education is important for him or not is for Unmukt to decide. It is his prerogative to choose where he wants to go and he knows best.

Yeah, i think he needs to be fast tracked into the indian side, both t20 and odi's and then tests. No need of domestic seasons for him. He is a future superstar and legend in making.
