Cricket & Match Fixing, Shall we beleive or Shall we not?

I was reading some match fixing articiles on internet, dug into the events that unfolded in the recent past of cricket, sharing an interesting post by some gentleman with the ICFer's for their views. 1) indian cricket team loosing 2007 world cup so badly and winning the t20 world cup in that year itself. 2) in inaugral t20 world cup australian team was defeated by india in which they could have won easily. in finals pakistan team came at the edge of winning and was then defeated by 5 runs. this was to give profits to bookies and also there are underworld connections with icc. 2) again ipl was starting in2008 and so indian team was made to win t20 world cup to make ipl a hit. 3) even all ipl matches are fixed. imagine shane warne alone scoring 19 runs in last over to win a match in ipl 1, rohit sharma scoring 22 runs in last over to win a match in ipl 2.all ipls are also financed by underworld dons from hong kong and dubai. 3)the test matches are even fixed. imagine how the number 1 test team india lost to england so badly in england. this was because these test series was much anticipated and more money wre bet on india.and india whitewashed england in following odi series. impossible task. 4) think about sachin`s 100th 100. everytime he fails to score runs whenever he plays final innings in a test series he gets out in 90s.remember 91 aganist wi and 94 aganist england. the he skips following odi series. why should he do like this?because he is told by higher authorities to do like this to make profit to bookies and everyone has their share. 6)look at world cup 2011. how england vs india match drew and shane warne predicted a draw even before the match.ireland was on urge of loosing against england and suddenly won the high scoring match after 5 down and subsequently lost to bangladesh. 7)some of the tests and odis series recently always in 5 match series there is 2-2 and the series extends till last day.once its possible. all the time its not possible. 8)recently pakistani cricketers accused of match fixing were told by sharad pawar to fix with a bokie and so if india wins wc 2011 it doesnt look like fixing. yuvi and bhajji were told in advance to blow tears on winning wc. 9) in all, all of them sharad pawar, sachin tendulkar, icc officials and underworld and bookies are one and they only know to make fool of people. and to add to woes, sms floated around by wikileaks, with the most perfect predictions, How?

There will be some amount of dishonest activity going on here and there, it's impossible to avoid when large amounts of money are involved. Bookies paying cricketers to bowl the odd no ball, play out a maiden over etc. But institutional fixing where official parties are involved and entire matches or tournaments are involved is not at all plausible. Not because everyone involved is honest, but rather because the more number of people are involved, the higher the chances are that someone down the line will squeal. For someone to elaborately plan out events over several years with such precision and the power to keep everyone quiet, is a scenario which looks far more in place in a conspiracy theorist's wet dream than in real life.

there is fixing in cricket but fixing a whole match i can think of pak losing to bangladesh, india losing to sri lanka in 96 world cup. i am sure there are more.

There is no way fixing can be so huge that the entire cricket administration, ICC, entire team etc are involved. There is absolutely no reaosn BCCI will do that as they will be killing a cash cow which already gives them unccountable money. Why would ICC want India to win T20? In the hundred of players playing international cricket, is there not even one who willl not want his team to intnetionaly lose? Will not such a player leak the news to news and media if he is unhappy about the team losing Sorry, no way fixing can happen at such a large scale. Plus some of the examples you are utter toss. T20 and ODIs are completely different formats and we had a young team in T20 with no senior players Sachin and Dhoni who earn millions and millions in endorsemnt will just fix a match just because BCCI tell him to? If everything and everyone is fixed, why wouldnt the most economical Starc conceded more runs himself on his captain's call? Why take such a round about way of conceding runs by giving the ball to Cummins? Obviosuly Bailey, Star, Cummins, all are on it na? So let Starc himself give away runs Or is your accusations of match-fixing so selective?
