Most of the rest of the team are on their first English tour. Pujara and Kohli have failed after a long, long time. Only constant in 3 years is Dhoni. Why would you sack youngsters on theri first tour of England?

Doesn't work like that. If you want to make changes, make changes. And one series should not be a deciding point for anything. So Kohli failed in one series, big deal. Even the best have failed in one series. If you believe he is captaincy material make him captain. If not, don't Stop gap captaincy have never worked in the past. Ad hoc captains always perform differently from someone who is given complete freedom. Even if Dhoni takes a break it will still be Dhoni's team and no one would want to piss him off so the same favorites will be selected. Nothing will change

And what you said certainly doesn't work. If you want to solve a problem, find the root cause. The root cause is batsman failed, and yet, you don't want to address that. Instead, you want to promote one failed batsman this series as new captain. So you are rewarding a failed performance. Great work Sure, Dhoni as captain failed but he wasn't the reason we lost. Give another captain, same set of players, it would have been the same thing. Till, our players especially our batsman which is our strength learn to apply themselves overseas, we aren't going to do well away. Changes need to happen, firstly with our team, certain players should no longer be in our test team. Look, I do think Dhoni should eventually not be the captain of the team but let's not make that our only objective. We need more better players, attitude and professionalism.

For starters,the biggest issue we lost the series more than batting or for the matter of fact bowling is fielding. Dropped catches,missed catches etc. Now you might say why blame the captain for that. For not getting the right fielders in the right positions. For missing catches as a keeper as well as having fielders stand way behind for 75mph bowlers. For having spinners bowl a defensive line. Had we held our catches or created chances,the batting would have done a lot better thanks to no scoreboard pressure.

Amarnath has come out and said that the selectors had removed Dhoni from captaincy after the Australia tour and Srinivasan saved him. Not only that Amarnath was removed from his post.

So now a captain must teach our fielders how to catch? And next, our bowlers on how to bowl. :haha: Sure, Dhoni didn't have great captaincy but then the options available to him were very poor. Btw, we lost the series on poor batting, bowling was always a weakness and we were always gonna bank on our strength, batting. And ultimately, at the end of our series, it's our batting which has more questions marks whereas our bowling is still the constant, the same old questions.
