I remember watching New Year 2012 celebration in India on TV, and she was there testing the compressive strength of the stage with here stumps.

It does not mean fragrance in Marathi - it is either taken in the context of smell or dirt. Fragrance generally equates to pleasant smell - gandh is the opposite of fragrance.
