Stopped playing after his team had no chance to reach the semi-finals. :giggle:

When you think about it there isnt really any choice, we dont have any more Dravid, Laxman or Gangulys to take over short term. As a batsman MS is 100% guaranteed and worthy of his place despite poor form in tests its him or Partiv! Personally I would stick with him in tests as Gambhir has blown it due to his batting inconsistencies in test matches abroad, and Kohli in ODI+T20's. The only other option I can think of in Tests in SACHINNNNNNNN SACHINNNN! He will play for another 12 months and can take over until Kohli has proven himself in test arena (which he hasnt at all outside India, flopped in WI, Eng and Aus)

Statistics were for those great people who said Dhoni's performance is bad and hence should be replaced with Gambhir/Sehwag/Murali Karthik yada yada. This is not to put Dhoni as a permanent WK batsman in the team.
Stats do not tell the whole story they are improved by recent performances and not outs against newzealand.People have watched him bat in england he scored some runs there but when the match was lost and opp captain spread the field looking ,In australia he could not put bat to ball.In westindies he struggled and averaged 20 something and most of all he failed at some crucial moments where we were ahead of the game like second test in eng and 1st test in australia add to that his wicket keeping skills which are not great particulalry to fast bowlers where he had left numerous chances go between him and first slip along to shoddy captaincy thats why poeple want change.

imo..dhoni shud b swapped out for tendu as test captain n irfan for dhoni in t20s
Tendulkar is going to retire soon and irfan cant even keep his place at the moment ,forget about captaincy. Kohli was the captain of the under 19 team which won the world cup but I still feel we should persist with dhoni. He has done so much for us.

Dhoni is a good ODI captain so removing him from ODI captaincy makes no sense. His test records are most shaky and besides he doesnt have good enough technique to be rated as a good test batsman in non subcontinental pitches. I think the way to go would be to give Kohli the t20 captaincy and get him ready to take over tests in a year or two. Dhoni can remain India's ODI captain till the next world cup if he continues to do a good job. Gambhir would have been the ideal choice for test captaincy but in his current form he doesnt even rate a place in the final XI. I am not in favor of Suresh Raina being given any captaincy.

He should be replaced but you dont need change just to change personnel rather than performance. You should first have an able replacement which I do not see right now. Let him be test captain one more year till SA tour, more because we are in transition phase and most of the middle order is new, after that Kohli or maybe even Gambhir if he starts performing better with the bat can be considered. We can change T20 captain for sure because w barely play any T20 internationals.

That's not a bad shout to be honest. Let him be caretaker captain for one year or so and groom Kohli in mean time. The same model, which we had used to make Kumble captain after Dravid's resignation and groom Dhoni in test matches. But in any case Dhoni should be removed from Test Captaincy. We'll play without captain and will not do any worse than what India did under captaincy of Dhoni. So no better alternative talk is crap. Pick 11 players and choose any one but Dhoni as captain of the team. Before than let Dhoni compete with Saha for a place in playing XI.

So replace a captain who was whitewashed in two overseas tour by someone who did even worse as captain by even losing at home. The length sachin get defended here :cantstop: The only person whose place is secured and hence deserves captaincy is Kohli. Only tink we will achieve by making Sachin captain is even lsoing at home to England and Australia

I am for split captains across formats as well - Tests on one hand + ODIs/T20s on the other. If you do really want to take a gamble (I am not convinced), I will got with Pujara for Test matches and Kohli for limited overs/T20s. I do not want another MS Dhoni situation with one person having to do too much. And yes, this business of "do not make anyone captain" and still we can't do worse is a moot point. If results were the only thing which mattered for a captain, Dravid would be India's best captain. The way people use words to make such arguments leaves me dumbfounded.

SRT shouldnt become captain and he is most likely not interested in the job either. Gambhir or Sehwag should become interim captains till one of the younger breed is ready to take over. Their recent form is poor but on pedigree they are much better batsmen than Dhoni who is nothing but a hack at test level and doesn't posses the basic technique to succeed. He has one of the poorest defence shots for an international test batsman and more often than not is clueless about where his off stump is. Dhoni should go and concentrate on his racing team and advertising endorsments and leave test cricket to captains who would do better than 8-0 (our worst overseas streak since the 60s).

I think SRT should concentrate on his kids and stop playing cricket altogether. Sehwag can concentrate on opening a gym and Gambhir can make a good business out of fishing - the way he pokes outside off stump. Phew! That was easy.
