rkt.india Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 Saurashtra win by huge 229 runs:congrats: Vishal Joshi impressed me,got big turn on a patta n had a leggie variety too:woot: outbowled Son of Sardar:giggle: I saw a few of his balls and his action reminded me of Hafeez plus Saqlain.
Clarke Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 Might as well trust your bowlers & fielders than a coin toss.

Lord Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 I saw a few of his balls and his action reminded me of Hafeez plus Saqlain. agree.looked innocuous early on,but impressed later.last wicket was a leggie:haha: I think he can be nurtured considering our lack of spin options.only 23 yrs old can bat a bit too

Cevno Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 Vishal Joshi, i am still not fully convinced about. Let's see how he goes in the final. Punjab choked big time here, particularly the batsman. FlatShastra playing Pattabai probably in the final. Won't be the best match that. Hopefully Services can last out today and tomorrow it rains.
vvvslaxman Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 Punjab's dream run came to an end. In the Saurashstra proved to be far superior.
vvvslaxman Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 Sowmya Swine :hysterical: what kind of a name is that.
Lord Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 Punjab's dream run came to an end. In the Saurashstra proved to be far superior. we know:dontknow:
vvvslaxman Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 we know:dontknow: Once pitch starts aiding spin our current crop of batsmen go missing. We are losing our tradition of great players against spin. Present Indian team just started the slide.
Lord Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 Once pitch starts aiding spin our current crop of batsmen go missing. We are losing our tradition of great players against spin. Present Indian team just started the slide. there are no good spinners too:((
LegSlip Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 I saw a few of his balls and his action reminded me of Hafeez plus Saqlain. Liked the drift that he was getting. If he can bowl about 10ks quicker and still get that same drift and loop he could be a good prospect.
kubrickian Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 Once pitch starts aiding spin our current crop of batsmen go missing. We are losing our tradition of great players against spin. Present Indian team just started the slide. I know it may sound strange but I dont want spinners to come through FC at all because they usually prosper on poor pitches. Pitches which are good for batting and good for pacers with some grass for seam movement and hard wicket for bounce makes for interesting test cricket. For instance, throughout 90s India was notorious for preparing poor pitches and so we were invincible at home but we had a very poor record overseas. So its time we prepare better tracks at home, so we can do better overseas too. 2000s was generally good for India because we had some great batsmen and bowlers.
Magneto Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 Once pitch starts aiding spin our current crop of batsmen go missing. We are losing our tradition of great players against spin. Present Indian team just started the slide. :agree: The current crop of FC batsmen can't play spin to save their lives. All they try to do is to sweep and slog-sweep to get out of it and eventually perish like sitting ducks.

And this is only his 5th FC match. But still (as many have said), needs to be tested on flatter (less spin-friendly) wickets against a side which knows how to play spin.

Magneto Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 this was a flat deck:dontknow: hes not a darter like others, which is what I like.need to encourage those types Almost every bowler (including Bhajji) got quite some turn on it. The pitch broke up quite a bit by the 4th day - evident, by the two 200- scores. This is a typical Indian pitch - holds on for a couple of days and starts turning from the 3rd-4th day onwards. Good to see someone not dart and flight the ball generously.

Magneto Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 he did well in 1st innings' date='when there was less turn,Bhajji got carted:giggle:[/quote'] This season has thrown up a few promising spinners - Vishal Joshi, Parvez Rassol, Ankeet Chavan, Shahbaaz Nadeem etc. Heartening to see that Joshi and Rassol are offies amongst these. BCCI may do a 'spin-bowling camp' (like the camp for phaast bowlers) and help these guys reach the next level otherwise these guys may again get lost in the next season.
