if you get a job in a company' date=' how much will that company help in grooming you ? you have to take your own initiative in first getting the job and then keeping it and getting promotions etc, its the same case here for the players and bcci.[/quote'] How can you make that logic? BCCI is the one entity which takes care of cricket development in India and this is their responsibility to develop cricket and cricketers for Indian team.

He was the one who fast tracked Ishant Sharma. Resurgence of Zaheer also happened in his tenure. RP Singh and Sreesanth also came up when he was chief selector.
It was the combination of Greg Chappel & the selectors who fast tracked some of these bowlers.. Think it was under Kiran More's tenure Munaf & Sreesanth were fast tracked into test side.

Munaf and Sreesanth were not fast tracked. They picked after they had played a lot of FC cricket.

bcci will give players a platform to perform ' date=' its upto the players to respond, bcci wont help the bowlers develop their bowling ,bowlers have to do that themselves.[/quote'] Why BCCI should not developed them when other boards like CA and ECB do it.

Ok.. The point is they made their debut during More's tenure rather than Vengsarkar's tenure & India tried out a number of fast bowlers during that time .. VRV Singh,Munaf, Sreesanth,

what do you mean by develop? did csa teach steyn how to bowl ? has ca found a replacement for someone like warne ?is it because of lack of legspin talent in aus or lack of effort from ca to develop a leg spinner, where as on the other hand so many pacers are coming through?
How do you know CSA didn't? Development is not just teaching them to bowl but to improve their skills. Regarding not getting another Warne, I tell you, you never get like for like replacement. We have not found another Kapil and Gavaskar yet.

India has lost a lot of bowlers who have talent - Sreesanth and RP Singh are prime examples. With a little bit of mentoring and counselling, we could have had two very good bowlers in the ranks today apart from Zaheer Khan. We are not talking about bowlers who are not good enough rather those which are good but have not cut it out at the international level.

its a misconception to think that bcci doesnt not give enough time for bowlers specially pacers , guys like yadav ishant munaf aaron rp have all been given fast tracked . munaf played his 1st first class match for ind a when he had not even played a single domestic match, how did aaron get his 1st chance he had hardly done anything of note except for that 150kph ball ? its up to the bowlers to step up to the plate specially when playing abroad.
Check the number of ODIs + T20s Dale Steyn has played versus Ishant Sharma has played. I don't even understand what you are smoking. It's simple our bowlers are over burdened. Accept the reality.

but steyn has played lot more than ishant ' date='when was the last time ishant played an odi......[/quote'] Thanks - you are just helping my argument. Steyn debuted 3 years before Ishant and still has played only 18 more ODI's than Ishant Sharma. This after Ishant being consistently in/out of the team. Ishant Sharma was a classic case of mismanagement. Steyn is an excellent template for Ishant Sharma to follow from now on. Not just bowlers the batsman are mismanaged too. Rahane is picked for ODIs despite being a better performer at FC than List A. Raina picked for Test matches despite being good at limited overs. All these are cases of mismanagement - the sooner you agree the better will it be.

you misunderstood me ' date=' [b']i said bcci cant teach bowlers how to bowl, here you are talking about management of bowlers which is a different topic and yes it is the team management's job to manage the bowlers properly.
We are talking about management of bowlers itself not teaching "how to bowl". BCCI does not even encourage to take up fast bowling - IPL, CLT20, flat tracks with no bounce show that.

So vengsarkar can't see 'any' quality bowler... hmmm that's a good observation because it means both spinners and seamers. We just do not have anyone capable of running thru a batting line-up of a pee-wee XI let alone an international side. Btw, i don't agree with the argument that our team doesn't give enough opportunities to bowlers. Just look at how many games piyush chawla and vk have played despite 95% of Indian fans scratching their heads at their selection. IMO, the bottom line is that our selection committee has NO thought out process of picking a side and grooming players for relevant roles. While I support the idea of fast tracking mind-boggling talents to the national side but more often than not the player HAS to graduate thru the ranks of India A. There is no such process in place and everything is so random and unjustified. We do not allow quality to take shape so no surprises there.

Its all boils down to survival of the fittest, and most of the Indian bowlers aren't the fittest to survive . Plus RKT has explained it several times that once they are picked they aren't groomed accordingly to best in the business (barring few exceptions )

Isn't board appoint physios and trainers at NCA and international level to take care of their fitness. Who is responsible for farce of a fat unfit RP bowling in England tests. How can they allow such unfit cricketers to take the field? likes of RP, Mishra, Powar, Chawla, Ashwin, Sehwag who plays with pot bellies. There should be some criteria, strict and hard fitness training so they look like international athletes.

Team selector says we need a Fast bowler. Dhoni will soon present the unassailable trio of RP Singh, Munaf Patel and Laxmipathy Balaji to back his case, while ignoring genuine quicks like Awana, Aaron and Yadav. :hysterical:

We have 4 bowlers and they could form the core, Ishant, Umesh, Aaron, Shami all have pace, these bowlers should be looked after also a county season would be a g8 thing, all of them can bowl at 140 to 150 k, move the ball, what they need is grooming, fitness, learning how to bowl at different times, locations, conditions. A bunch of backup bowlers should be groomed and ready to take over if they need to, Gony, P Singh, Tyagi, Suyal, Anwar Ahmed, Abu Nechim, VRV , these bowlers should be looked at as they have the potential to succeed at this level, fitness, pace, development should be monitored. Then rookies who have potential to succeed but are new to the game, V Singh, P Parmeswaram, R Shukla,K Khan, S Sharma, Ravikant Singh, bowlers who will be debuting this season and have pace and skills have to be mentored, it is pretty easy to loose bowlers to fitness andinjury loss of form in the sub continent and BCCI should be aware and on the lookout to pick em up young and look after them.

I would also add anwar ahmed in the core coz a he is a left armer ,who bowls at lively pace ,add to that he is tall and swings it.he provides u the variety

The selectors should simply aim to win the World cup in Aus/NZ which means we require better fast bowlers/ batsman capable of playing weill in bouncy conditions... In turn this could result in better overseas performance in tests too.
may be the selectors are correct in their vision to win the worldcup in Aus-NZ... may somewhat improve our performance in bouncy / seaming conditions in tests too
