Ranvir Posted November 15, 2012 Author Posted November 15, 2012 What? You've got to be kidding me. He was one of the best fielders in the game at short leg. Just because you are fat it does not make you less agile. Some of Boon's catches at short leg (fast reflex ones) will make modern day catching look like amateurs. Yes but I'm sure chasing after the ball wasn't one of his strong points. Anyway Samit Patel looked very slow chasing after the ball today.
Ranvir Posted November 15, 2012 Author Posted November 15, 2012 patel gets a lot of stick and rightly so but i think he will pwn india in this series. A part time spinner will not pwn India, maybe his batting might. Bits and pieces players are better suited to ODIs
BERGKAMP Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 that's what i'm saying, he is very skilled batsman. bowling wise he is nothing special, as nasser hussain said today, indian batters face millions of spinners like him week in week out.
thongale Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 Irrelevant. This player here averaged 43 in Test cricket with 7000+ runs with that physique. He also was the Man of the Match for his team which won the World Cup. Same could be said about Ranatunga. Averaged 35 in both tests and ODIs, and was the captain of a WC winning team.
Crookbond Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 I do not want to start a war but Ranatunga's physique impeded his cricket. David Boon's did not.
Era of Gold Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 Ravi Rampaul is super fat :/ Too much roti and curry
VRV Singh Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 Samit makes me laugh. I like his style in the press conference. Especially the succession of flabby come at me bro faces from about 1:27. xnRp2ssrAp4
SLICKR392 Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 Ravi Rampaul is super fat :/ Too much roti and curry Ramdin :dontknow:
Era of Gold Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 Ramdin :dontknow: Haha on one of Trinidad's local news stations they always describe Ramdin as "the pencil thin wickets keeper batsman" eg."Here we see the pencil thin Ramdin playing a shot for four"

No fit Indian cricketer anywhere in the world?

CoverDrive Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 Cricket is one of the few sports where being unfit you can still play at the top level. There is some amount of skill involved that guys like inzi could be world class. But I feel things maybe changing as cricket also becomes lot more demanding in terms of power and schedules. Being fit adds a lot your game - Kohli, Warner etc. build on being so fit. But you still have people like Gayle who are not in position to even run a little bit but can make a bog impact tweaker 1
