wtf BCCI  They have so much power should not use DRS and have umpires favour us. Use your fecking power  Not more decisions going for Ingurland.

I think umpires have become more incompetent with the advent of DRS. Its like how people need a calculator these days even to add up two simple numbers. Even with DRS the umpire's call stands in case of lbws unless the ball is hitting middle stump.

BCCI are neither for or against DRS though. All they are doing is backing the Indian senior players which is what u expect from a cricket borad. The problem is with the likes of Dhoni and Sachin who are staunchly against UDRS :banghead:

These spinners must be cursing whoever in the team is against DRS. Ashwin's figures took a hit because of dropped catches, missed stumpings and umpiring errors.

Neither of them are as important as Ashwin and Ojha.

They are more against the implementation of it especially the part where you have just 2 wrong appeals. Going by our history, we would have used up our appeals in the 1st 10 overs and all these howlers would have happened anyway. It would have been great fun to see Samit patel, getting LBW but given not out and India with no appeals left and then a few overs later given out to a ball sliding legside, only to be reversed by DRS.

it was more a case about awful umpiring especially by Dar than case for DRS what happens if the two chances India are wasted to dreaded stays with on field call. Aleem Dar really had a very bad game.Tony Hill's calls were at least understandable why he gave those decisions.

DRS is a joke in its correct format of implementation especially for tests. e.g: in long test innings lasting more than 100 overs its highly certain that the referrals would be done and dusted within the first 25 overs which means the same old format of going with what the umpires say for 3/4th of the innings. If you dont use it for most of the innings why implement such a system bearing such costs at all???

+ Its not perfect so why not stick with the old method. Isn't that what every 'legends' and experts believe? Sticking to old methods. It failed couple of times. The Hawkeye : During the WC. Aus tour of SL The hotspit : Ind tour Eng and a couple of time in other series.

In the end, as you say it is a zero sum game with our without the DRS. But, most humans think by the eyes rather than the matter in the head. People are extremely satiated when one howler from DRS is turned over - they forget that DRS itself can lead to a howler.

See as a matter of fact, technology is updated every day ... new technologies will come and things will be sorted out but the way they are implementing with just two options in an innings ... It is human instincts that you go for a DRS appeal even if you are half sure because you dont want to lose a decision you can have in your favour. What this does is you lose most of what DRS brings in for large part of the innings and then all the money spent in setting up the technology actually doesnot come into much use. That once sorted out can then be a great case for having DRS knowing you can have the appeals in some manner for the whole innings and not just for a part of it.

Yes but at the end of the day it rectifies more howlers than it creates. And hence it should not be an issue. What really matters as I have said above is technology even if not fool proof gives us a chance to reflect on the instinctive decision the umpire gives in a few seconds. But having that option gone say as soon as first 10 overs of a test match when the side batting first Bats 2 days of the test match means complete waste of the technology even if you have it installed bearing all the costs.

DRS is definitely a better option than letting human errors take over the game. But our stars dont like it for many reasons: 1) Once bitten twice shy syndrome: Horrible experience at Lanka several years back the first time we tried it. 2) Human error suits reputed players: If you go by history, human errors work in favor of reputed players more often than not. So it suits the stars better. 3) BoD is eliminated: Hawk eye eliminates a lot of the benefit-of-doubt advantages batsmen enjoy (and in our team, batsmen have a bigger lobby than bowlers), so that plays a big role as well. The "When/How to use it ?" issue mainly arises when we are batting. There are certain players who immediately call for DRS when they are out, because they think their wicket is way too valuable. Sehwag and Tendulkar fall in this category. Their mindset will not change and everyone in the dressing room is almost too afraid to challenge them. This wrinkle aside, DRS is a big boon to our average bowling attack, because our bowling is simply not resilient enough to bounce back from one or two major umpiring errors (we almost squandered the Ahmedabad test) We need all the advantage we can get. That said, BCCI will not accept DRS until SRT retires!

At least they should agree on basic DRS which doesn't include hawkeye or hotspot.
Well in that case we are already using DRS which doesn't include Hawkeye or Hotspot.
