saket123 Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 forget action.. how effective is the bowling? that is more important.. I actually like bowlers with not so long run ups.. reason being.. a long run-up bowler will fizzle out after a few years.. Fast Bowling for sustained periods is extremely difficult and takes a heavy toll on the bowler's body. If this kid can bowl effectively with shorter run ups.. more power to him. The time he saves from all the physical issues he would have had if he had a longer run up.. can now be focused on developing the effectiveness of his bowling technique. Kudos to upcoming fast bowlers from India.. the long ignored aspect of Indian cricket.
rkt.india Posted March 7, 2013 Author Posted March 7, 2013 What a weird action. Has he played any form of competitive cricket? Looks highly unlikely he ever will. Ian Pont's ward according to his tweets. Look at the video link below, which I posted today, he has changed his action a bit. He is still developing. He was selected by BCCI in fast bowling trials organized last year. He was the quickest bowler in those trials.

saket123 Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 Brett Lee' date=' Steyn both have long runups.[/quote'] I know.. which is why they are the best at what they do. Brett Lees and Steyn's don't come very often.. and Brett Lee retired at a relatively young age because like I said.. fast bowling takes a heavy toll.
Pagalpanti Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 Akhtar-like action. Just hope its nother Atul-Sharma hype from Pont
ChanaLal Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 Akhtar-like action. Just hope its nother Atul-Sharma hype from Pont What's funny is half the posters say this guy's action looks great and the others say not. Be fair to Pont, he is not hyping this player, WE ARE. This is exactly the problem we have in India and why coaches like Pont, Lillee, Cooley and others don't give interviews about their wards very often. We criticize coaches who are doing great work with unknowns. We destroy people we don't know.
express bowling Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 Nice to know about a new quick. Thanks for the info RKT. I hope that he is groomed properly. Big plus is that he is only 18 and has time to develop.
vvvslaxman Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 140k? show someone who can clock 150k plus or minus 2k. There are so many who can "touch" 140k speed albeit erratically. I am looking for a bowler who can bamboozle batsmen with wide range of skills.
tweaker Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 Will need more time to even consider for ranji. But should be nurtured so that he can be available in 3 years
dragonfly Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 I won't be a believer until I see him pushing cars and lifting car tires overhead with one hand.

rkt.india Posted March 8, 2013 Author Posted March 8, 2013 One more.. haha. Wonder where Atul Sharma is. But he is real because he is also picked by BCCI in fast bowling trials.
Texan Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 But he is real because he is also picked by BCCI in fast bowling trials. That doesn't matter. Bowling that one ball at 140+ does not mean he is going to become a pace bowler. Let somebody bowl consistently 140+ and stay out of injuries.

Let somebody bowl consistently 140+ and stay out of injuries. He has been getting trained to bowl fast, not just one odd delivery and regarding injuries, if some one bowls at that pace and put a lot of efforts, injuries are bound to happen. Every quick bowler goes through them. It is part of a fast bowlers life.
rkt.india Posted March 8, 2013 Author Posted March 8, 2013 Ian Pont @Ponty100mph @AkalpTyagi looking at his Facebook page, he's training with RR people.
