G_B_ Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 I dont think height is the be all end all of pace. Malinga is short and he bowls fast. Indian fans also need to get beyond their 140+ obsession. The real question we should be asking is what is the average pace (leaving aside obvious slower deliveries) a pace bowler can sustain throughout the day after 20-25 overs innings after inning. If somebody can bowl in the mid 130s on a regular basis innings after innings match after match we have found ourselves a good pace bowler (in terms of speed) Its maintaining a pace which is the key. Stamina. Pattinson in the chennai test started at 152 and ended at 130 through the day. Compared to that Siddle was consistently in the mid 130s.

Sent from my GT-I9103 using Tapatalk 2 As I recall, Patel was in his first season with Haryana from Gujarat and was no certainty. Then took stacks of wickets in 2011/12. Mohit Sharma had a similar season this year in Ranji and was unknown as even a regular before this. So Patel and Mohit Sharma under Pont have been groomed and developed into front line India 'A' standard and beyond and now into IPL players. I don't know the other two guys or whether they even play organised cricket. A coach can only work with what he has in front of him and I guess not everyone will be a success. Pont is clearly though the best out there and us Haryana fans are delighted to have him helping.

You can trust your eyes for that, watch matches or old videos. He is an inch or 2 taller than Vinay Kumar and Dinda who both are around 5'8"-9".
