Test cricket will be dead sooner or later anyway, and T20 will take over. Only 10 test nations play test and half of them don't care about it. NewZealand, West Indies, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe don't care about tests and India is heading towards the same path.

Nobdy cares about ODI's in England. Ashes is bigger' date=' and it's similar in Australia despite them winning four world cups. ODI cricket is not [b'] considerered real cricket. Only the smaller cricket countries like Sri Lanka and India prefer ODI's because their test records are diabolical. When England won the 20/20 it barely got a mention. The WC gets televised but it doesn't get the build or hype of the ashes. We sucked at tests in the 80's and 90's. That's it, India have been good in tests between 2000-2011 and that's it. Pretty poor return for a country with a 7th of the worlds population. We've beaten you 40 times in tests and you've beaten us half that.:hatsoff:

You're a cricket mad nation with over a billion population. You guys should dominate the way the Aussies and West Indies did but unlike those two you should consistently dominate. Instead you get owned by some public schoolboys from England and sports mad Aussies. Why is this though? When it comes to cricket you guys should be like Brazil at football. You've improved overall since the 90's but your test record is pretty bad. You've lost like 50 or 60 more matches then you've won. A country like India should have more test wins then losses.

We were more interested in dominating the commercial and political aspects of cricket in the previous decade and half. Mission accomplished. Now we are in the process of developing a system that will take another decade to mature (with the right administration obviously) but hopefully we will get there. We also happen to be in a transition period, incase you didn't notice.

I find it very funny when I hear this - "India has a billion plus population so they should be number 1 in cricket or Olympics etc." Just so you know, 80 % of this population have no chance of becoming sportsmen. Most of the kids in India have to concentrate only on their studies and taking up a sport as a career opportunity is a privilege only some can afford. A sizable population of the kids dont even have access to education and job opportunities and many have to work to make ends meet. So they cant even think about going into sports. The situation is only changing with the current generation but its still largely incomparable with western countries.
