(Though in Modern times, he hails from Haryana, actually from border area), Navjot Sidhu? So many Jatt's have played Cricket for India. Amarnath = Brave Cricketer, up for challenge Dev = Longevity, Athletic Sidhu = Best player of spin from India (Both Warne and Murali rated him in top 5) Yuvi = cleanest hitter, safe fielder I don't think Bhajji has any Punjabi trait in him. But like a number of other pacers whom you call trundlers, they too are in the same category. Do they still remain a highly rated talent now? Not sure. Consider this as well, with all that talent Punjab hasn't made it to Ranji semis for the last 9-10 years! They typically start well in the league only to falter in later stages. Lets see if they can better their own record of just one QF in last 10 years which was in 2009. You blessing them with a hread isn't going be of much help either :P Also with Mohali being the only pitch with pace and bounce in India, try naming the last successful test batsman from Punjab? Search will perhaps end at Sidhu who debuted well before Mohali stadium came into being!
Trundler27 Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 Punjab can become a seam bowling supply line for Indian cricket much like NSW is for the aussies, and Lahore has been for the pakis as they are genetically built for pace bowling much like the youngsters from central India (Jharkand, Bihar, UP, etc.) What's different this year for Punjab is that the entire unit is clicking together and the batters are playing their part as well.... Good luck to those guys... i'd like to see smaller sides win the ranji as they bring genuine talent to the fore

The team is full of amazing talents who I feel will soon start breaking in to India team. I have never seen a punjab team this good with so many young talents. Clealry Yuvi and Bhaji have inspired punjabi kids to get in to cricket. As previoulsy its always been the state for hockey and kabbadi(india just won kabbadi world cup with team of 100% punjabis) with not much interest in cricket, last few years seen big change in this regard. This team is fantastic with young hot shot bats mandeep singh and jiwanjot singh(tops ranji runs list). Wicket keeper/bat uday kaul. Plus young pacer sandeep sharma(tops ranji wicket list). Spinner rahul sharma is also there. The talent is endless and am sure with interest in cricket in punjab at all time high the talent will keep coming. Add to the fact that the mohali pitch is about the only one with pace and bounce in India, it means punjabi batters are better prepared for international cricket and better rounded techniqes, also their stats may hols more currency in evalaution. This should also in time see more pacers come through with the pitch encouraging fast bowlers and also with punjabis naturally good genetcis, this will hopefully see in time the strapping strong speedsters we so deseperatley need. Exciting time for punjab cricket, which also should seriously benefit indian team. RIP Punjab Cricket.

Was the first person to take a WC hat-trick and scored an amazing century in an ODI. Has been remembered/ridiculed for one silly reason. Respect for Sharma. :hatsoff:
