“It was one of the best performances of pace bowling I have seen in domestic cricket in recent times,” said Jharkhand coach Tarak Sinha, who has produced Test bowlers like Manoj Prabhakar, Ashish Nehra, Atual Wassan and Sanjeev Sharma. “I haven’t seen a pace bowler like Sandeep in the Ranji Trophy for a long time.”

He finished with match figures of eight for 82, his second consecutive eight-wicket haul. He has now taken 22 wickets from four matches. The Kerala team-management must be ruing its decision not to play him for three matches.

With a decent pace attack, Kerala prepared a spin friendly track and played into the hands of Kashmir which defeated them. Tarak Sinha, the coach who has produced 11 international cricketers, believes Kerala could be a force to reckon with in Indian cricket in the near future. He is mighty impressed with Sandeep Warrier and feels S. Sreesanth is ready to return to the Indian squad. Sinha, who was one of the men responsible for Rajasthan’s fairytale rise in the Ranji Trohpy, is here, with the Jharkhand team for the Ranji Trophy. “I have been watching Kerala cricket for some time and I feel the State has the potential to do a lot better,” he told The Hindu on Sunday. “I have seen the Kerala Cricket Association’s academy here and at Thalassery and I think it’s a nice idea that every district has an academy. Kerala will reap the benefits surely a few years later.” He added the Kerala officials, however, needed to fine tune their Ranji squad. “This team needs a couple of professionals — one top order batsman and a quality spinner,” he elaborated. “Kerala could do well with some experienced cricketers. That was how we won the Ranji Trophy for Rajasthan in 2010-11, after qualifying from the Plate Division. We roped in Akash Chopra, Hrishikesh Kanitkar and Rashmi Ranjan Parida and that made the difference to our batting.” Tarak is better known as the coach who produced players like Manoj Prabhakar, Ashish Nehra, Akash Chopra, Atul Wassan, Ajay Sharma, Sanjeev Sharma, Raman Lamba, Surinder Khanna, K.P. Bhaskar and Shikhar Dhawan. A former Indian women’s team’s coach, he is now the director of the Jharkhand Cricket Academy. Jharkhand is not placed well in the match against Kerala. “We have to give credit to the Kerala pace bowlers,” he said. “All of them bowled well, though our batsmen could have done better.” He said he was quite impressed with Sandeep, the 21-year-old seamer. “India needs some young pace bowlers and I feel Sandeep could be one; he is deceptively quick and could move the ball,” he said. “He has to work hard, especially on his physique, but he has huge potential, no doubt. I have seen a couple of other good pace bowlers from Kerala in age-group tournaments. With Sreesanth around, I think these young Kerala bowlers have a bright future.” He said Sreesanth looked good and match-fit. “I won’t be surprised if he gets a call from the selectors soon,” he said

might be kerala association had speed guns there because every match is videographed, may not be telecasted. They even have third umpire in every match and cameras for third umpire. BCCI has done a good job in that regard.

At least that is what I saw in Wankhede and Brabourne. And no speed guns there.

Posted by: v.saleem at December 25, 2012 6:20 AM last sunday i had watched sandeep bowling alonside sreesanth he was really quick and just like dale stain raw pace and swing if he was in pakistan he would have got a call into national team he was quicker than sreesanth kerala has got lots of pace bowling talents , a guy like prasanth parameshwaran is not getting a spot in the team speak of the volume and quality of fast bowlers in kerala.
