Test avg of 40' date=' ODI avg of 70, T20 avg of 45..Any batsman will be proud of such a record :P[/quote'] Hasnt he played like only one signle test and only a handful of the other formats? How are stats relevant then?

Test avg of 40
He lost a couple of wickets to close no-balls ... also factor this is first test, it was a flaccid track and he was playing against the best batting line up in the world. I think he will compliment Junaid really well .. fast bowlers always operate in pairs ... if Irfan keeps banging it in from one side and Junaid swings and seams it at the other end they will make a good one-two punch. Not quite the level of Asif and Amir ... but add Ajmal and Rehman to these two and I can see this bowling line up regularly getting opposition out for less than 300.

hmm i fear he may have made his first test appearance too late he is already 30.
Too late for what ? Too late to be useful ? hardly. Most fast bowlers can last till 35 and the ones who make their debuts late, mostly do. Sure, he won't make it to the 300 wicket club but that is the problem with Indian mentality- we do not select based on merit and how good they can be now or for the next 4-5 years, we only want 21 year olds who have the potential and time to score 10,000 test runs or take 400 wickets. and the first series they screw up, its time for a new kid to be sacrificed at the altar of alltime-greats. India will never be a world-beater team if we offer lame excuses like 'Jaffer is 35, what good is it to have 25 test career for a 35 year old ?'. We will never produce a Mike Hussey or a Dilip Doshi ever again. because we are not interested in winning and putting the best team together, we want to produce alltime greats with greatest stats, which is why we are fixated with half-cooked kids like Harmeet Singh, Jiwanjyot, Unmukt Chand etc. instead of Wasim Jaffer or Ambati Rayadu. This Paki bowler, i garantee you, if he is fit and doesnt fall victim to Paki politics, is good enough to play for another 5 years and end up with a sub-30 test bowling average. His bounce will give him bucketloads of West Indian, Indian,Sri Lankan and Kiwi wickets and though he doesnt look like he has enough movement or control to trouble the Aussies, Saffies or the English except on the bounciest wickets, he will do better against them than most Indian pacers have.

Good debut but this is pretty much his peak fitness wise and the ajmal bowling almost half the overs saved him... He was struggling in field after spells... Other then that he is good find.

a 7 foot tall man is not going to be the fastest or the man with the most stamina in the field. Neither do you want a 7 foot man to run around all the time either, a very good way to kill the hip flexor and the knee for extremely tall guys is impact driven repeated trauma from running and jumping around all the time.

very good point, really, indian fans are more intrested in stats than any other nation, why can not jaffer play as an opener instead of poker, agree rayudu at 27 is still young and can play instead of Laxman at no.6?

The same old excuse every time :wall: Your not "busy" cause you find alot of time for ICF :--D Just admit your scared, but's it's okay, even though you think you are knowledgeable you can't pick teams as good as mine. I fully expect you to back out from this :two_thumbs_up: I understand you don't have enough cricketing knowledge to even think about joining there.
