NareshK
Bat 80 overs tomorrow, get a lead of 200 and try to bowl them out in 100 overs. India will have nothing to lose in that scenario. Still, the pitch is flat and it doesnt seem like it will deteriorate much in 2 days. But pressure can get you wickets. Link to comment
SLICKR392
It is not the question of being defensive' date=' but you can't slog to get fast runs in test cricket without losing quick wickets. Thats why it is important to take session by session and access the situation from there.[/quote'] The only issue is when a new batsman comes in it might get harder for them to bat unless its someone like Sachin or Dhoni. Not comparing them both but Dhoni as a hard hitter and Sachin with his experience. Link to comment

Pujara might be comfortable after that 200 but Kohli will come in and tuk tuk even though he can plays his shots early. Link to comment

Laaloo
If we are to win this' date=' it has to be by an innings. Dhawan and Vijay should attack right from the start, like they did today. We have Kohli and Dhoni coming in, who can score at 6 RPO easily. It is going to be really difficult, but we can get a lead of around 200 and then bowl them out. But this is going to take some bowling.[/quote'] Kohli rarely scores at a fast rate in Test Cricket. Our only hope is for Kaptaan to move up the order make quick runs and give a sporting declaration sometimes after tea. 50-100 runs would be a handy lead and we would have literally no chance of losing because aussies will be going for a draw from thereon Link to comment

Texan
I think we should try to make at least 300 runs in around 70 overs tomorrow. That is very ambitious if Dhawan gets out early. If Dhawan can last couple more sessions, then very much achievable. Link to comment
Texan
India should try to bat 80 overs and score 350 more. We'll then have a lead of around 220-230 and a day and an additional 10 overs on day 4 to get Aussies all out. I hope the pitch starts cracking up. Link to comment
carnish
This is a Road for a pitch. And Smith is not poor against Spin like Hughes. He just applied himself. Even Starc batted well. It was good innings and must be appreciated, but I would wait till I see him bat on a turner in Delhi. Link to comment
Laaloo
A lead of 100-150 is more than enough. Why do we need to bat for that long? We ARE not losing this match regardless. And aussies will not go for it. This gives us more overs to bowl them out and we will need to on this flat pitch. Link to comment
carnish
Simple Plan for Tomorrow. Bat 5 hours. Score at the rate which they are scoring today i.e about 5 an over. Score about 350 runs ... take a lead of about 225 runs ... declare Get 2-3 aussie wickets before stumps on day 4. :idunno: whats so difficult about it. Link to comment

Needforspeed
Looks like we wont need a declaration after all...More likely to be bowled out. Link to comment
JaFanatic
almost everyone wants to bat for a long time and get a big lead what if they bat for 3 sessions and enforce a draw ? wonder why you guys are complaining dhoni for being defensive! Link to comment
Number
India's plans and Sachin's personal plans didn't match. Link to comment
philcric
Hmm ... India probably scored 25 runs fewer and lost 1 wicket too many in that session. I hope they make the second session count, must score at least 150. They are already safe, there's no way they can lose this, even if they lose the remaining 7 wkts for 70 runs going for quick runs. Ideally, they should declare at tea, but with Dhoni you never know. Dhwan's spectacular knock and that great opening partnership should not go waste. Link to comment
