G_B_ Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 I dont understand how that will help SA tour. Test series at home will still be played on flat wickets or turning tracks. I dont know if performances in such conditions will guarantee success in vastly different conditions in SA. atleast it gives our openers more games under their belt as things stand it could very well be dhawan and vijay opening in sa
carnish Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 if i was the bcci i would call SA to tour india during that time Everyone wants to play a strong side but it wont happen as South Africa will be busy with other things.
carnish Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 btw looking at the future tours program NZ are free in Jul-Aug 2013 and SA are free for 4 weeks in Aug-Sept surely the bcci should schedule something with these teams. NZL have already played two test series in India since we last went there. So I dont think, BCCI will be eager to call them. South Africa has 3 and a half weeks gap and it aint enough for even two tests considering they will need to play practice games too.
carnish Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 Plus truth be told, we dont really have a gap in our FTP, that slot is for India's tour to Pakistan which wont be happening any time soon.
Muloghonto Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 Talk in town is Bangladesh is gonna try and tour India during the 8 month break.
carnish Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 Talk in town is Bangladesh is gonna try and tour India during the 8 month break. Which town, Dhaka?? I have heard these claims from BCB from a long time. Not unless you have heard about this from someone in the BCCI, its a huge Question Mark. I believe BCCI would not want to give Bangladesh a full tour in India considering it wont be so economically profitable for the board. However we may have a ODI/T20 series.

I think calling NZ is apt. Split the money 2 ways so thats compensation for them for india not playing more games there.

Pakistan renting some grounds in India and playing their home series India was a possibility but now after Hyderabad blasts, there seems to be no remote possibility. Hopefully we invite Zimboks or West Indies if they are free. Even New Zealand is good. Will be nice bashing them after they whitewash England :--D

Windies too are free in that time for the month of august. so you have options of NZ, WI, BD and Zim.
Sooda Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 I simply don't think its right to drop suc a senior player in the middle of the series. He should have been given till the end of the series. The flip side is if he is struggling and will not do well in SA we need to try out a new combo so that they are not opening together for the first time in SA> Worse still is to have someone debut there Id go with Vijay and Pujara.. Rahane at 3...Dhawan has struggled in ODIs for us, I do not think he is test class. Kemar Roach gave him a lot of trouble in WI
FischerTal Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 Dhawan will open. Rahane will still carry drinks :((
saneindian Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 Why would you change Pujara's batting position? He should be at number 3 and no where else. Also given Gautam Gambhir's record in SA, he will surely be back for that series. Would have got enough time away from the game to work on his shortcomings and tighten his technique.

They will say, players, you must be tired ... take a good two months rest and then go to Lanka and play a 5 match ODI series. BCCI :finger:
adi B Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 still persisted with ishant, tinda? no shami? feck
Sidhoni Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 Talk in town is Bangladesh is gonna try and tour India during the 8 month break. They already are :dontknow:
SLICKR392 Posted March 7, 2013 Author Posted March 7, 2013 What a lame decesion to drop Sehwag and retain Ishant. He was probably retained for that 1 lucky wicket of Watson.
CG Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 Ishant sharma .He will end his career himself.Allthough mohali has been good to him but he is not bowling well.
Sooda Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 Why would you change Pujara's batting position? He should be at number 3 and no where else. Also given Gautam Gambhir's record in SA, he will surely be back for that series. Would have got enough time away from the game to work on his shortcomings and tighten his technique. Lack of options. Pujara is technically sound enough to open. Would you suggest opening with Dhawan? I know he has earned the spot with his domestic runs, so perhaps he should. With regards to Gambhir, Itll be interesting to know what Fletcher does exactly. Is he not a fabled batting coach who made Trescothick world class? Hope he can work with GG so sort out whatever ails him.
ShebbySB Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 This is what u'll happen:-Vijay & Dhawan will play in the next to tests. Dhawan will fail miserably.Gauti will come back for the SA tour.He along with Vijay will open the innings.Mukund will be the back-up opener.Though Dhawan may do well in the LOIs.
