EnterTheVoid Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 Hugh Jackman's casting as Jean Valjean in Les Miserables reaffirms his credentials as a performer. As a performer, mind you, not as an actor, musicals are the toughest to get right. As for the songs themselves, he sings with real gusto: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I8WSysB5vKM]Les Misérables - Clip: "Javert Releases Prisoner 24601 On Parole" - YouTube[/ame]
EnterTheVoid Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 The first couple of minutes are really awesome: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aFl5i6RXdRo]Les Misérables (10th Anniversary)- Look down - The Bishop (Song 1) - YouTube[/ame]
coffee_rules Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 Les Miserables will sweep the Oscars , just like other movies from that genre nominated earlier (remember Chicago). Time to give Oscars a miss. Ben Affleck shafted in directors' list there. Any reviews of Silver linings Playbook? Bradley Cooper gets a nomination! :woot:
EnterTheVoid Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 I would go with Les Miserables for: 1. Best Actor - Hugh Jackman 2. Best Actress - Anna Hathaway 3. Best Musical Score That's it. Saw it twice in about a week, yes, its that good. This from someone who is totally into heavy metal (Guns N Roses/Black Sabbath/Judas Priest/Slayer etc etc)
KhanSaab Posted January 10, 2013 Author Posted January 10, 2013 2. Best Actress - Anna Hathaway Watch out for Quvenzhane Wallis in "Beasts of the Southern Wild". Fabulous performance.

maniac Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 Waltz for Django unchained has to win...atleast in comparison to Arkin for argo and Tommy Lee for Lincoln. Haven't seen the other 2 so can't comment....Deniro is sterotyped now anyway...so don't see him win another oscar and don't know much aboutseymour-Hoffman's performance
