Number Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 Whats more worrying is that Indian batsman used to smash greats like Warne and Murali for fun but now people like James Tredwell are owning them in their own back yard. Shikhar Dhawan and Rajat Bhatia played very well against the same attack. Our national team is full of useless rockstars.
saneindian Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 In hindsight, GG and Rahane should have taken on Root and Tredwell after they came to bowl their 1st spells, we were 66 after 10 and in the next 5-6 overs hardly attacked the spinners. Kochi will be another flat track and hopefully the batsmen will go after the spinners.
rkt.india Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 Credit to Indian batsmen. What Tredwell did? He hardly spun a single ball and most balls were straight, but what he did was varied his pace, but they made him look like second coming of Murli.

Rahane is an offside player and will always struggle against offspinner as he tries to play against the spin. Rahane has barely improved his leg side game in 4 years and he knows it himself too.
twww Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 Tredders bowled well last summer against SA and Australia and yet you are saying India should be dominating him? Brave words......
Serani Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 Tredders bowled well last summer against SA and Australia and yet you are saying India should be dominating him? Brave words...... I am clearly a massive England fan but what does Tredders have in his armory that means he wont be dominated in India? Just flight and varying his pace should equate to success on these pitches against such supposed good players of spin.
Marut Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 They aren't good players of spin any more. They are good at playing the mickey mouse cricket now.
Magneto Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 They aren't good players of spin any more. They are good at playing the mickey mouse cricket now. What exactly is 'mickey mouse' cricket? Any evidence that India is good at it? :hmmm:
Magneto Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Ashwin..nopes Ojha..nopes and he chucks Sharma...maybe give him a chance?Kumble like bowler ,difficult to get away. Rahul Sharma has been dropped from the Punjab Ranji team as well :giggle: Ashwin and Ojha are surely the best we have right now.

Magneto Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 IPL:--D Indians are usually ordinary in IPL. :winky:

Just flight and varying his pace should equate to success on these pitches against such supposed good players of spin. Varying your pace and flight are two fairly fundamental parts of a spinners armoury, together with turning the ball- he doesn't spin it as much as Swann but he spins it enough all the same. Oh, and we heard all about Indias ability to play spin before the test series as well........ neither Swann or Panesar have "variation" in the way Ashwin does, but they both seemed to do ok......
twww Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Why isn't Ojha even in the squad when he was your best bowler in the tests? Bizarre selection.....
vvvslaxman Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Why isn't Ojha even in the squad when he was your best bowler in the tests? Bizarre selection..... In ODIs with hsi lack of batting skills he is losing it out. Ojha is a steady bowler. Not a wicket taking bowler either. Also with two left arm spinners already in the squad having the third like Bangaldesh won't serve any purpose. Ashwin will continue for a while as he is Dhoni's fall back option inside power plays. He started making news when he opened with harder and newer ball.
yoda Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Where are the bowling coaches? Our bowlers all seem to start off well and slowly fade away.
vvvslaxman Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Where are the bowling coaches? Our bowlers all seem to start off well and slowly fade away. wicket taking mentality completely lacks in all of our bowlers. They don't know how to sustain a tough spell against a batsman. Inability to sustain a tight spell is a syndrome that runs among all our bowlers. Ashwin didn't play in one of the T20. Jaddu went for 40 runs in about 3 plus overs. Fact is none of them are good. They are not able to bowl 6 very good balls on the trot which guys like Ajmal is able to do. In Ashwin's case he just doesn't have enough revs or pace or drift. Don't know what our former spinners like Venkat, Pras doing.
saneindian Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Ashwin perhaps needs to go onto rely his traditional off spinners rather than trying every trick in the book. In hindsight, the slide started with that foot in mouth comment about having developed a secret delivery for the England test series. More than anything else, his continued decline on fitness is horrible. His batting is saving him as of now, but with the team losing regularly , his performances will be under the scanner and unless there is an improvement soon, he may even lose his spot. Akash Chopra had an interesting observation. In his first 24 ODIs, Ashwin had 38 wickets@26, in his last 20 , he has taken 21 wickets@ 42..thats a massive slide

Marut Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Where are the bowling coaches? Our bowlers all seem to start off well and slowly fade away. Batsmen plan for bowlers and bowlers plan for batsmen. It is a question of constantly evolving one's game to be a good bowler or batsmen. If you keep bowling the same stuff again and again, you will be found out. That is why our bowlers seem to start well when their opponents have not yet studied them. Mentoring becomes very important for young bowlers and batsman to keep succeeding after one or two years and when they don't get it they fade away. In India bowlers are certainly not getting the help they need or they are not putting in the right effort to keep improving their game.
express bowling Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Every spinner is bowling better than Ashwin these days. Ashwin has the ability to turn the ball, has a carrom ball which turns the other way and used to get zip off the pitch. But he had become lazy and is not giving the ball revolutions but is just placing the ball gently. Hence he is not getting any turn or zip. Such lazy attitude is destroying him.
