But after that six followed by two wides India was well and truly out .

It was indeed a tactical error. he just got lucky tbh other than ishant bowling was brilliant. new ball bowling was tight by umesh yadav who even got cook who can play spin really well and bhuvan made good come back after expensive over did looked bit nervous but can happen. imo ishant should have bowed just 2 overs match would have never come so close :giggle:

Maybe the Bopara wkt was lucky but Morgan wkt was an good gutsy slower ball under extreme pressure

You can't judge the merits of the decision from the result. Next time when Dhoni does a fail move I can't go in hindsight and say it was fail. You can't have your cake and eat it too.

Decision might look bad to us and even I was puzzled when I saw Ishant being given the ball. But obviously Dhoni knows best about the situation and he had a plan in mind. Ishant bowled a good slower ball to remove Morgan and then a good bouncer to get rid of Bopara and suddenly we were on top.

The plan was to bowl outside off for Morgan but after the first 2-3 balls they reverted back as Ishant couldn't execute it. The next ball was fortuitous. It was a poor tactical decision IMO.

Ishant did a smart thing by bowling a slower one to remove him.

After the six on a short pitch delivery, Dhoni had the word with Ishant and after first wide Dhoni was nodding his head with acceptance. He got the wicket on same line short outside off stump just marginally inside to be called a wide.

If you are gonna judge Dhoni's captaincy by logic n theoretical merits of decisions,he wouldnt have gone past 2007.Giving Jogi the last over in T20 WC was as much a fail move as this one,but that worked too and rest as they say is history He goes on instincts with regard to bowling changes

The plan to bowl to Morgan was a good tactic and I think I mentioned that as well; to give the ball to Ishant was NOT. The only thing Ishant can do is bowl a slower ball or bowl short-and-wide in the final over. It was a front hand slower ball which kids in school could pick. Morgan had a brain freeze ala Misbah moment. It was stupid but it worked. But, just because it worked it does not become good. Also, just because it doesn't work a move doesn't become bad - it works both ways. I am not denying he doesn't go on instinct but I am fair enough in criticizing them as well. The final of WT20 is a wrong example, because the only other option he had was Harbhajan Singh and Misbah was picking Bhajji beautifully and carting him for sixes at will. So please spare the analogies. Lol the only think u should judge a decision is by the result. Ricky Ponting is THE best captain in ODI history. #kthxbai
