fineleg Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 I know this is not a 'serious' suggestion, and I'm only making this suggestion out of desperation and I hate how IPL has affected Indian cricket- but - here goes: Make it a criteria that only players who have done very well* in domestic 4 day matches such as Ranji Trophy over a period of time can make it into IPL team. Make them work well in things like Ranji before earning IPL spot. *some yardstick measure to define that.

Maybe too early for Rajpoot and Warrier as they have just broken through but depends on how they have impressed. its a team experince does not matter entire objective is to provide experince :--D

Make them work well in things like Ranji before earning IPL spot. *some yardstick measure to define that. but they need diff skills for tht.. i hate ipl too but one thing tht can work is to have restrictions like to play atleast 2 full seasons before u can get into ipl team performance will improve if they want to get noticed:--D

express bowling Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 I hope we do not go back to the likes of Sreesanth, RP, Munaf, PK, Vinay and Mithun anymore. Add Ishant to the list as well. Let them take truckloads of wickets and earn their place back if they desire to play for India again, The success of BK and Shami should give the selectors enough confidence to blood another couple of young seamers in the national side. To start with, rest Ishant and give Pankaj a go in the last 2 ODIs. My thoughts exactly. The new kids are better in every way. They look like more mature bowlers
saneindian Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 Better or not only time will tell, but the new crop are not lazy, all of them look like decent fielders and not lazybums like Munaf, RP and PK. And no antics like Sreesanth either.

express bowling Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 Kaul seems to bowl quick swinging yorkers at will. Unless he loses it, like Munaf did, he can be groomed to bowl the death overs in LOIs.

Warrier through reports has been impressing everyone, while I have seen Rajpoot bowling live. He is a great potential.

cricketpitch Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 I guess BCCI can compensate these bowlers for not playing in IPL for which they have enough money. I guess the BCCI has no interest in Indian future, these IPL games will break these bowlers and we will not have any fit bowlers for international events. Varun Aaron was injured through the later half of 2011 and missed the Australia tour but magically got fit for IPL and has been unfit since then. Probably if he had rested without playing in IPL, he might have been available for India last year. In 2011 too Indian players played in IPL as soon as we won the world cup and decided to miss the West Indies tour. That tour could have been an ideal workout for the tough season ahead but was not to be. No wonder Rahul Dravid was our best player in England as he was the only one who toured WI.
express bowling Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 Most of the new bowlers are getting seam movement as well as swing. A combination of some hit the deck seaming deliveries and some quick swinging ones can be a deadly combination and can set up batsmen.
