NEW DELHI: Rahul Gandhi's reference to his briefing by an "intelligence official" on the ISI having "contacted" 10-15 youth whose kin were killed in the Muzaffarnagar riots, for potential recruitment, has puzzled both retired and serving bureaucrats. They are questioning how an intelligence official could brief the vice-president of a political party, who is not bound by the oath of secrecy. They also criticized the Gandhi scion for going public with information that should have ideally prompted a secret intelligence operation to identify the youth contacted and neutralize the ISI agents carrying out sabotage and subversion in the hinterland. "A potential prime minister of the country should have had more sense of national security. ISI is a hostile foreign agency recruiting people in the hinterland for sabotage and subversion. Rahul's response should have been more robust and decisive. He should have asked the intelligence official to go back to the Muslim boys contacted by ISI, lay a trap for these Pakistani agents and neutralize them," said former Intelligence Bureau chief Ajit Kumar Doval.

Gandhi, who addressed two public rallies in BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh, where polls are scheduled for 25 November, said the BJP’s “India Shining” campaign of 2004 had not helped the poor in rural areas. The Congress vice-president, who launched a satta parivartan (change the government) movement for the state, tore into the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government’s “India Shining” campaign at the 2004 general election. “Bundelkhand has become a victim of the slogan of India shining. The politics of ‘India Shining’ has ignored the screams of the people of Bundelkhand for development. Did you feel the glaze of India shining? This is the politics of air-conditioner (those sitting in air-conditioned rooms), the politics of industrialists they practise,” Gandhi said in Sagar.
What year's election campaign is this again ? BTW, how has more than five decades of garibi hatao worked out ?

^ Its a cunning plan. They are just diverting main issues like corruption, falling economy etc... Looks like Communal card against Modi is falling flat,so now they are using tears,2004 election campaign,Mosquito bites,Grand mother/father etc... As whole media is with them they may even succeed in this diversion campaign.

Yeah, the sympathy vote begging is a new low that these kaangressi neta has resorted to. But I still feel, the public knows how hollow these netas are and how desperately they are trying to have their votes.

So media has finally highlighted the dumbass's comments over Muslims youths being in touch with ISI, only after Muslims clerics condemned. Good, better late than never. But what about silence of pseudos, what is Nitish Secular Kumar doing ? Shows how much hamdardi these chumps have for muslims in reality.

Well, Congress is the one who needs to think hard and make some big decisions. It's already well established that Rahul himself will never generate new votes. But what's happening is the opposite, the more he is involved/speaks, existing Congress voters rethink. He puts a doubt in everyone's mind. Of course, it's Sonia dreams to see her son become PM. And thus SGandhi dreams automatically becomes Congress agenda, what will they do now? No wonder, he never does any interviews and remains as the most protected asset/liability of the country. I am not sure what will happen in future but clearly something will have to change and thus Congress will definitely react strongly.

I foresee more 'sensational speeches' by Puppu in the run up to the elections... Congress think tanks has realised that any publicity is good publicity... They've adviced Pappu to 'take lead' and keep on spouting 'controversial statements' and then let the media publicise it as much possible... They think that it will rattle BJP strategists... You'll see more and more 'debates & discussions' of what Pappu said than Modi... Media has been asked to shift focus on Pappu...

Taking strong exception to Narendra Modi addressing Rahul Gandhi as "Shehzada", Congress, on Saturday, did some tough talking as it threatened that its workers were capable of stopping such "undignified" language but were restrained due to respect for laws and the Model Code. The ruling party said its Vice President should be addressed in the same manner in which he addresses people with respect as use of words like "Shehzada" will not be tolerated.
Congress workers are not reacting out of respect for the Model Code of Conduct and laws of the country and are thus quiet. Otherwise, the use of such words can be stopped in two days. We don't want such a situation to arrive," Congress general secretary Janardan Dwivedi said, without naming Modi.
