rkt.india Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 people are still so delusional about Irfan. He never lost his swing. He lost the ability to swing the ball at the pace he used to when he first came and that is because he had to change his action because of a back injury and forced him to become a more front on than the side-on he was before.
King Tendulkar Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 Yeah' date=' because future cricketers in India chart their careers based on what Manju writes on cricinfo every week. :wall:[/quote'] Er I am not saying its about manjrekar. More manjrekar what he said symbolisies the cricket culture in india among coaches, players and fans ie dont worry about pace as we cant do this cos indian and anyway better to focus on line and lenghth with movement. While other countries say bowl fast and also have line and length with movement

He was never really quick even when he started out. Look at this video when he took a hat trick, he barely touched 125 and this was at his best. It was against Pak batsmen :P but still he can be effective with the new ball in ODIs when its swinging. buspqMLkeYY
Lord Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 that wasnt his best,he was on decline then n got wickets only due to greentop, got carted om 2nd innings this is his best R50tcRlwRdA
NareshK Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 Er I am not saying its about manjrekar. More manjrekar what he said symbolisies the cricket culture in india among coaches, players and fans ie dont worry about pace as we cant do this cos indian and anyway better to focus on line and lenghth with movement. While other countries say bowl fast and also have line and length with movement The conditions should also be taken into consideration. At the end of the day, its about taking wickets. What's the point in bowling 140+ on slow pitches or batting pitches and becoming tear out ? On hard pitches and greentops in SA and Aus, there will be plenty of bounce and ball will zip through after pitching making it tougher for batsmen, so its encouraging to bowl fast. Indian seamers have to rely on early swing if its available or have to bowl longer spells and bowl line and length and play on batsman's patience or get reverse swing with old ball. These are the kind of bowlers who succeed in FC and come through to national team, barring a few exceptions. This batsmen friendly mindset in FC should be put aside and pitches have to be made livelier in longer version (which we are already seeing in North and hopefully it will continue) if we have to produce better bowlers and do well in tests overseas.

He started in 2004 when he used to bowl 135k. 2006 was his bad phase, had lost his pace by then because of change in action and bowling grip and that hattrick was just a one off on that tour. He still had swing in 2006 but was ineffective because of 120-125k pace. That hattrick happened on a green top and ball zipped around a lot.
JaFanatic Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 Well I can name 4 guys Aaron' date='[b']shukla, warrior also add mohsin sayed to that list heard he is capable of bowling 140+ as well he didnt play in under 19 wc this year , apart from them we got guys who ,can bowl in early to mid 140's guys like pandey, shami, mohit, suyal, kaul, anwar Ahmed ,awana agree we don't have a lilie,Marshall etc but then these guys can make our bowling potent,if we take care of them. he is bloody trundler bk is at least 3k quicker than him
rkt.india Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 whos Shukla?:hmmm: Rahul Shukla from Jharkhand. Many said he could clock 140+ likes of Maninder Singh who saw him in nets with MI. he playef one match for MI last year and he barely clocked 135.

vayuu1 Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 oh yeah remember watching him, short guy n not much speed.was hyped I remember forgot his name:--D Abu nechim, what about Faisal dhudhat, firdaus bhaja, tyagi any news of them
JaFanatic Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 Abu nechim' date=what about Faisal dhudhat, firdaus bhaja, tyagi any news of them he has the extra pace but he's been ordinary for a while now
vvvslaxman Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 Bowling 130+ and having good control and moving the ball is good enough to trouble the batsmen. But once the ball stops swinging' date= a bowler needs to be lot more quicker through the air to reduce the reaction time of the batsmen and induce the mistake. Bowlers like Yadav will be more helpful in tests in Indian conditions because after first 7-8 overs, the ball generally stops swinging. Bowlers like BK are more useful in England and SA. If he can increase his pace and bowl 140+ consistently, he will be effective as a wicket taking seamer in India too. Zaheer Khan who bowls at the same pace as BK has been effective in tests in India because he can also get reverse swing with the old ball. I dont know if BK can do that. Zak is also capable maintaining an uncomfortable channel for batsman for long periods something you don't see from others.
CG Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 Zak is also capable maintaining an uncomfortable channel for batsman for long periods something you don't see from others. Also you cannot judje pace by odis.Zak when he came in was 135-145km/h.His best spells came when he was 135-140ks. Bhuvi in tests will be 125-130ks.
Lord Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 Also you cannot judje pace by odis.Zak when he came in was 135-145km/h.His best spells came when he was 135-140ks. Bhuvi in tests will be 125-130ks. why do u say that?
CG Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 why do u say that? Because in tests you have to conserve energy and bowl 20 overs a day.Every bowler is faster by 4-5 ks in odis than tests.
vvvslaxman Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 Fast bowling is a fine art. Toughest art also. Even though cricket is generous in accommodating some of the most unfit players, genuine fast bowling requires lot of athleticism, endurance, sustained energy.f Ashwin tries to bowl like Umesh yadav he would be lying on the floor before the end of one over. It is a thankless job. . Requires lot of dedication, single minded pursuit. Genuine quicks must learn to take wickets. They should be able to run through sides with sheer speed atleast once in a while. My imagination about fast bowler is someone who runs in bowl quick and destroys a batting line up in a short period. Not bowling 140k, 145k, 150k.
Lord Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 Because in tests you have to conserve energy and bowl 20 overs a day.Every bowler is faster by 4-5 ks in odis than tests. hes bowling 10 over spell anyway.he can bowl short spells in Tests.also hes worried about accuracy so that affects speed,in Tests he can let it rip without worried of being hit btw, does Steyn bowl 150k in ODIs:--D
