Sean Bradley Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 What do you guys think about the attitude of English fans, their players, and the ECB towards the ODI cricket? Whenever their is an ODI series involving England, the opposition fans can rest assured that this is going to be a pretty mediocre affair, come ODI's and the entire flavour of the series changes. They just show up, go through the motions, If a K.P strikes in an odd ODI, they cheer, and then move on, Even Cook in his post match presentation's carry an attitude like "Yeh, we won the test matches, we have done the Job". The entire enthusiasm drops to the ground zero level, a team that prides more in winning the ashes than the ODI Worldcup. Why are they evening playing ODI's?
Cricketics Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 I am actually tired of reading "why the are playing odi's" I mean those who don't want to watch just don't watch. Stop the hate against ODI'S. It's here to stay and is not going anywhere. If you don't like it then don't watch it. SImple as that. It still brings more crowd then any other format. 2020 thankfully aren't being played like a 5 match series. I rather have 5 match odi series then 5 match 2020 series. One off 2020 is alrite. And btw, England do care a lot about odi's. They are trying different things. When they are doing well, they are running a bandwagon. Regarding givign an "f" ABOUT IT, well the people who matter the most, the players, they do give a damn about it. They consider world cup to be the most important format then any other tournament.

You would be living in denial if you even assume that the english fans and their cricketers care about the odi's, and as an opposition fan, it annoys me that they dont.
Cricketics Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 Test Matches in South Africa, Australia will have less people compared to an Odi being hosted. Take recent example. Unless, it's an Ashes which is a traditional event, test matches won't have too much attendance. I am a big test cricket fan. it's my favorite format, but I hate to see people being anti-odi's. You can ask for cutting down on meaning less series and matches, but can't ask to simply shutdown then 50 over game.
game_changerr Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 watch the england's celebration just after they win rajkot odi......watch the miffed cook arguing desperatly with umpire after the ball was declared ''dead ball'',yesterday....then they say we dont care avt odis
Sean Bradley Posted January 24, 2013 Author Posted January 24, 2013 watch the england's celebration just after they win rajkot odi......watch the miffed cook arguing desperatly with umpire after the ball was declared ''dead ball''' date='yesterday....then they say we dont care avt odis[/quote'] I was busy watching them rest swann, anderson, prior, panesar, in odi's.
saneindian Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 When they start losing, thats the attitude they have. The Sky commies were gushing about how England have turned their ODI fortunes around when they won vs Pak in UAE and thrashed the Aussies at home or when they were no 1 in the ODIs. Yes you focus on Tests which is how it should be but don't fool anyone into believing you don't care about ODIs. If that was the case why would they burn out Cook as the ODI captain.
saneindian Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 I was busy watching them rest swann' date='[b'] anderson, prior, panesar, in odi's. Really? have you checked their ODI record? Prior and Panesar do not play ODIs, Anderson has been rubbish in ODIs in SC (went for nearly 100 runs last time he played vs us in India). Not sure if Swann would have troubled as much as Tredwell did.

If a 27 year old Intl. cricketer burns out then he doesnt deserve to play at that level, have you heard of a thing called 'exposure'? And tbh, i am annoyed with that english attitude, they send a second string side full fo dernbach'es and our media here goes gaga with statements like bharat ka badla , you know whats badla for me, to effing go to the their own backyard and drubb them in a test series.
Sean Bradley Posted January 24, 2013 Author Posted January 24, 2013 Really? have you checked their ODI record? Not sure if Swann would have troubled as much as Tredwell did. wrong, they dont select him to play odi's. This is exactly what i am saying, they dont select their best side for ODI's,
saneindian Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 Panesar with his one dimensional skills doesn't fit in the ODI side. With Panesar there, who would be left out? Fatel? Would have meant us leading 4-0 and not 3-1 right now.
game_changerr Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 I was busy watching them rest swann' date=' anderson, prior, panesar, in odi's.[/quote'] swann,????tradewell bowled well in this series,,,dont think swann or monty could do better, anderson????when he was champion in loi's,????,,,he would have gone for runs as always prior????he played his last odi in march 2011,,,,kieswetter has been playing since then,,,so u cant say ,prior was rested....btw,,,,matt prior avreges 24.18 wit SR-76...while kiewswetter avg-30.11 withSR-89.11
NareshK Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 Its not that they dont care about ODIs. That's the attitude they adopt when they start losing. The fact is they are shite in ODIs. They invented the game and are yet to win a World Cup. :hehe:
King Khan Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 I'll take it hard to believe that ECB sent a team here expecting defeat.

Number Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 They don't care yet they were no. 1 for 6 months. Some tailunt they have. :giggle:

Hell they even followed WI and BD matches closely to know if their team will qualify. BS written all over your comment, sorry to say that!

For them, Dernbech one of the best limited over bowled, death specialist and that is why he plays. You have no clue.
The Dark Horse Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 We don't care about tests though. At least Dhoni doesn't seem to.
