ShebbySB Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 We need to develop a decent pace bowling pool as we have lots of away tours coming up in the late 2013 & most of the 2014.Plus 2015 WC down under is not far away.So we need a pool of at least 8-9 pace bowlers.Good news is we've got some upcoming talents right now.Umesh,Shami,Ishant,Bhuvaneshwar & Aaron(if he's fit) should be picked for test matches. We should look beyond Zaheer now,he has served his country well but I'm afraid his time to go has come.For LOIs Bhuvi,Shami,Ishant,Aaron & Irfan.Guys like Awana,Ishwar, Sid Kaul,Sandeep Sharma,Warrier should also be in the reckoning.

diga Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 In an attempt to give coach Duncan Fletcher a chance to take a good look at Indias best available bowling resources ahead of the Australian tour, the Board of Control for Cricket in India will hold a five-day camp comprising 18 bowlers at the National Cricket Academy, Bangalore, from January 26. Once the final ODI on the 27th is completed, the coach is expected to join the camp. The BCCI is keen on preparing a decent pool of bowlers from which to choose from for the upcoming season, and alongside Fletcher and the bowling coach Joe Dawes, chairman of national selectors Sandeep Patil will also be present to gauge the talent. The Indian board has asked 18 players to come for a five days camp. We want to prepare a pool of bowlers from what weve seen this season. The selectors and the Indian team support staff will also be present. As India plays non-stop cricket, our support staff hardly gets time to watch domestic bowlers in action. This will give them a fair idea about our bench strength, a BCCI official said. It has often been believed that the national coach doesnt get an opportunity to appraise the many bowlers spanning the domestic expanse of the country, and hence this short camp will offer him a good chance to see for himself the talent that has come to the fore at the end of this Ranji season. Any idea who the 18 bowlers will be?

I think most of them will be newcomers into the Indian setup & players who have done well in the FC.If I've to choose 18 bowlers comprising of seamers & spinners then it'll look like this:- Seamers:-Bhuvi,Shami,Ishwar Pandey,Awana,Warrier,Pankaj,Sid Kaul, Sandeep Sharma,Aaron(if he's fit),Manukrishnan,Abu Nechim,Suraj Yadav, Mohit Sharma,Ankit Rajpoot & Rishi Dhawan. Spinners:-Nadeem,Parvez Rasool,Darekar(based on good A tour performances), Harmeet(based on potential),Jalaj Saxena(for obvious reasons).

Hopefuly the BCCI also invites 2-3 left arm seamers to the camp, Suyal, Anwar Ahmed and Aniket Chaudhary are the three names I can think of. Srikanth Wagh is another one.

I was impressed with him during the first PWI stint in the IPL. He seems to have gone in oblivion thereafter.

MCcricket Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 Pankaj Singh should be playing for India no ifs and buts, Shami should be persisted with, Irfan hopefully is back along with Umesh and Aaron, Sreesanth be scrutinized as his problem is fitness and attitude adjustment and his time is running out.Ishant should be given a clear mandate, he has to bowl fast and no more excuses. Talented seamers as we all agree should be called on their ability to bowl fast and plus have skills to move the ball, same with spinners ability to really turn the ball, even if they are raw, rather then looking at mediocre talent. People I wanna see at the camp, Anwar Ahmed, Ravi Thakur, Rajpoot, Warrior, Pandey, A R Yadav, Suyal, Wagh, Doodhat, Bhaja, Abu Nechim, R Shukla, Mohit, Mohd Aamir, Gony.

Bhaja ? Who are they ? Missed out on the services bowlers who have done well this season and Awana and the likes.

renjith Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 Below is first class bowling average of some of the contenders for a place in indian team: sandeep warrior - 19.20 sandeep sharma - 22.17 basanth mohanthy - 22.34 iswar pandey - 24.35 mohit sharma - 24.65 shami ahmed - 24.67 rishi dhawan - 25.47 sidharth kaul - 25.62 bhuveneaswar kumar - 26.02 pankaj singh - 26.11 Awana - 28.95 asok dinda - 30.02 isanth sharma - 32.43 sreesanth - 35.55 Eventhough numbers tell only about a part of a particular player, its also important in judging one. Quite interesting to see whoever playing or played for india has poor records in domestic circuit compared to players who are yet to play. I hope we will get to see most if these players in action in IPL. That will give a clear idea about what speeds they are bowling and whether they can trouble intl quality batsmen or not.
