Hopefully he can repeat his Duleep Trophy final performance in the Irani Trophy and kickstart his test career during the Aus series. Has been the best bowler in the A tours and no reason to believe why he cannot do well at the test level. His India A performances: 4 matches, 16 wickets@26 WI A- 3/43, 2/24, 4/48, 1/29, 3/75, 0/26, NZ A- 3/56, 0/23 Duleep Trophy final- 4/73, 4/50 So in 5 key matches, he has picked 24 wickets@23. ANother good performance in Irani Trophy and he should be in the test squad. Shami, Pandey, Kaul should be the 3 pacers for ROI team but I think selectors may select Ishant and Sreeshanth as well. Any statement of Dhoni about Shami being not good enough?

He has performed well so far but needs to improve still. I read the interview in The Telegraph, Kolkata. It was clear that he would prefer Shami in subcontinent tests among the 2.

BK could be useful when he gets some experience and skill and learns how to bowl to different batsmen with a nagging line and length and outsmart them. This is how most seamers get wickets in India after movement wears off but patience is the key when it comes to these bowlers in tests. He seems like someone who can learn quickly.

express bowling Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 I really hope that the newer pacers are tried in the Irani Trophy. There is no point in seeing how Ishant, Sreesanth etc. bowls. Pandey, Kaul, Warrier etc. should be tried.
Dumbbells Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 Shami was never a consistent 140K bowler like Yadav but he bowls consistently around 85 mph which is good enough and what is good about his that he gets movement in the air and off the pitch both ways and you do not need huge swing to take wickets as it will result in batsmen missing the ball. An inch of deviation is enough to trouble batsmen and get that edge. I am not sure Shami is 22, dude. He looks atleast 25+ and I don't know if aging is anything to do with his speed. Will he able to maintain his speed in tests? hope so becoz the bengal coach said that he hits 140+ in domestic matches.

vishalvirsingh Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 I was VERY disappointed to see bhuvi turn into a slow trundler bowling between 125 to 131K though there was some swing visible but it was Too slow so he did not get any wickets.......he bowled between 129 to 139K in previous match with good swing.....Swing was there to see in All matches but Speed varied that's why I believe he did not get any wickets as Swing below 129K does not fetch u many wickets....... I saw that dream delivery that bowled the Pak opener bowled at 133K with that Large Swing....he left the ball and it touched hafeez"s Off stump.....large swing at 133K

He should not be slowing down by 28-29 if he keeps his fitness right.

Shami is a less than 140K bowler with effort balls touching 142K anD normally 135 to 138K.... He manages Little Swing but not enuf to Beat a Batsman....is a Decent bowler with the brand new ball but an average bowler later....... Bhuvi is a Swing Bowler who can become a Huge Threat till the ball becomes 8 over old.....after that he is an ordinary TRUNDLER......Big SHock about him and his clone bowler PK is that they Look Dreaded Bowlers with the New ball and suddenly they Look Ordinary Trundlers and same batsman who was getting beaten starts hitting them out. That is where pace comes in. We need more bowlers who can hit 145 consistantly without loosing accuracy and swing. Bhuvi will be thrashed on Indian pitches after his initial spell, test cricket is not where Dhoni can hide him by bowling ten straight overs and take him off bowling.
