Sean Bradley Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 if theres anyone who deserves a place right now as an opener then its shikhar dhawan, hes a good fielder too.
Cevno Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 I would rather take Ian Chappel and Wasim akram's views I guess. Ian Chappell said about Harmeet Singh that he would get into every test team barring England. He can't even get into the Mumbai team ahead of Chavan. :giggle: Chappel also called Rohit Sharma next sachin 6 years back.

Cevno Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 Shikhar Dhawan should be chosen instead Dhawan not for tests. Would pick for ODI's maybe. Abhinav Mukund after his performance in Newzealand on A tour deserves a chance again.
vamos_rafa Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 Chappell also wanted Rohit Sharma in the team ahead of Virat Kohli.
vamos_rafa Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 dekock is South Africas Parthiv Patel..similar style of batting' date=' similar shots.[/quote'] Similar keeping too :winky:

Our people are not good at judging talents. U know how our system works. Chavan is a senior, hence,he is playing, not harmeet.
Tendulkar_Bhai Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 AT 16 how much of an impact had Tendulkar made in FC-not much i imagine! Sometimes you have to take a gamble with talent as they will progress much faster at international level than going stale in FC, otherwise you will be left with even more 26yr old+ Badrinath, Rohit's and Dhawans who are probably not going to have a 10yr international career
SLICKR392 Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 I would have Dhawan instead. Give him more time.

express bowling Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 I am not sure whether Ranji trophy prepares batsmen for international cricket, given the low quality of bowling. Unmukt perhaps needs some more practice but that has to be something like A tours and a county stint. ( although, after IPL, county stints are perhaps history ).
rajmarie Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 not right time There will be never a better time. Gambhir has done nothing except being KKR captain to keep in place in the Indian team for a long time without performing. It has been right time for the last 6 month to send him back to domestic cricket & include another deserving cricketer....& Chand seems to fit the bill. Need him to experienced Intl cricket on home rather then abroad.
The Outsider Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 AT 16 how much of an impact had Tendulkar made in FC-not much i imagine! Debut hundreds in Ranji, Duleep, and Irani trophies not enough?

JaFanatic Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 let him not struggle against our domestic trundlers and spinners who cant spin the ball first:facepalm:
cricketpitch Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 So we have already given up on Rahane? Since "Bradman" Rohit has taken the other opening spot there is only one spot available.
cricketpitch Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 AT 16 how much of an impact had Tendulkar made in FC-not much i imagine! I am sure you have no idea about sachin's career. At 16 Sachin was facing Waqar, Wasim and Imran. He made hundreds on debut in the three premier domestic tournaments. He was a prodigy. I don't think there will be any batsman who will be as good as Sachin at the age of 16 ever.

It was like he was always ready to play Cricket! Not like the hacks to whom we seem to compare him with.
