The Dark Horse Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 BTW, there are a hundred other sidedishes too..For eg. pudhina chutney, tomato chutney, coconut chutney, garlic chutney and varieties like thokku and each of them have a different taste. Also, I suggest you try aapam(you can call it a version of dosa- common in Kerala and TN). It goes well along with coconut milk(Thengai Paal) :D

coffee_rules Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 lurker, one question difference between masala dosa and mysore masala dosa? The mysore masala has a red garlic chutney smeared across the dosa and then the alu curry (lack of a better word) is placed inside.

In Mangalore, they add mashed cucumber to it, tastes very good.
Lurker Posted February 5, 2013 Author Posted February 5, 2013 Now we are talking!!! Coffee saab thanks for the pictures. Regarding dosas, they must be one of the rare cuisines that I like dripping with ghee!! B555 Mysore Masala is essentially the red garlic chutney that Coffee saab talked about on the inside of the dosa. Although I think there is more to it than simply garlic. Taste fantastic...
Crookbond Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Mysore Masala Dosa recipe for tidigi ... take it and GO! http://mysoorean.blogspot.sg/2012/09/mysore-masala-dosa.html

Neer dosa is a Mangalore/coastal Karnataka invention. Some Shetty restaurant must have instroduced it in Mumbai and the trend might have caught on. It's definitely not from Mumbai originally. Has anyone tried kori rotti?

I meant the tendency to Mix South/north Indian / Continenetal/ Chinese etc is more in Mumbai . You want to have Italian in Mumbai , its difficult to get authentic stuff . Love Kori Rotti ... doubt non-mngaloreans will like that though .
sir ji Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 And a big shout out to Jains too. Guys, and gals, you know I love you. You are great people. But Jain dosa?? Lets just all work together to banish that from menu completely. You know you deserve much better, like a Mysore Masala... xxx Disagree, there's nothing called 'Jain dosa' however they prefer Jain sambhar with it. :P Sent from my GT-I9103 using Tapatalk 2

Has anyone tried kori rotti? kori rotti plus really spicy chicken curry is one of the best combinations ever.my other favorite is akki roti(rice roti) with spicy pork fry.
