gakgupta Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 coming in at no.6.....he will not be able to prove much...atmost he might get a 50 or so in this series (if he play all 5 ODI's)
G_B_ Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 he is in at 4 or is cricinfo wrong? Has enough time to settle down and make a decent score.
Crookbond Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 63* (84b) Good debut - Some more such innings and Dinesh Karthik may be on notice.
cowboysfan Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 good innings,he would do well to emulate Kohli in the middle overs.
cowboysfan Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 Chepu debut :bye: meh,he needs to be treated with kid gloves anyway.
GolGappe Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 Jumping the gun here but looks way more assured than Rohit and Dinesh.
BeautifulGame Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 Scoring 50 and finishing off a chase on debut , will be great for his confidence.
JaFanatic Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 good innings on debut :nice: hope he continues the good work in the remaining matches
Sidhoni Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 Good innings but I think we should play him lower down the order because that is where he will bat when he gets the chance in our best XI
G_B_ Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 Yes if rayudu doesn't get a chance then surely i mean mankind's gone to the dogs isn't it. Seriously what more does he have to do - not sure hes really sucked at something or put a really wrong foot i guess not. And hes shown a bit about him - not the overhype when he first burst onto the scene though as a teenager ages back. +1 politics the bane of india.
munafbhai Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 It was refreshing to see Rayudu finally get a chance and he grabbing it and making a 50. I remember in his U-19 days , Gavaskar and Shastri spoke highly of him and regarded him as player with class and temperament close to Tendulkar. It may have been exaggerated but he is atleast 75% of what tendulkar was. Then Rayudu had a on field verbal duel with Shivlal Yadavs son and Shivlal made sure Rayudus career would not blossom ( Politics runs deeps in our cricketing circles ) and applied all his contacts to destroy his career. However Tendulkar handpicked Ambati for Mumbai Indians on shastri's reccomendation........................................................... and I am sure if given consistent chances, he can be atleast 80% of what Kohli is today for India - a reliable batter under pressure.
G_B_ Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 This is exactly why the IPL helps india. It puts people in the spot light. The masses start asking why is this player not selected. I know its a T20 tournament but even test stars are benefit. Even cricinfo, all of a sudden we can atleast see the stats of a bowler/batsman and debate it and the call for selecting that player grows. In the past it was basically on the whim of a selector. Our current selector Sandeep Patil is a honorable man. Not saying he will get all things right but he will not let bias creep in.

Worked miracles with Kenya. Politics kept him down. Then he joined the ICL as doors closed on him. He is back on track today. He has seen some tough times from 2006-2010 economically. Never changed who he was. I have no doubt Sandeep Patil is a man who will stand up to even Dhoni when it comes to selection matters.
