Clarke Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 If Siddle' date=' Starc and Pattinson can replicate Jimmy Anderson, India will lose this test by an innings defeat[/quote'] They can't, Anderson is the second best proven quick after Steyn. Then there's the more pertinent lack of a Swann/Panesar equivalent, forget the pair. Its up to us though to create new heros out of the Aussies.
Marut Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 In 69 innings Watson has a grand total of 2 centuries and a highest score of 126. Not sure how he is going to get a big hundred. He is capable of scoring very fast and unsettling our bowlers. Our home bowling is probably at its weakest ebb for more than a decade. And if they don't get him early we are in for big trouble. He is not likely to be consistant but he will probably fire in an innings or two, and when he does India may not be able to stop him from scoring freely. Warner is another threat if we dont get him early.

Last two years. http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/stats/index.html?class=1;filter=advanced;orderby=bowling_average;qualmin1=5;qualval1=matches;spanmax1=20+Feb+2013;spanmin1=20+Feb+2011;spanval1=span;template=results;type=bowling See where Anderson is. Hilfenaus, Pattinson, Harris, Siddle and even Watson have outperformed Anderson.
Clarke Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Really?? Last two years. http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/stats/index.html?class=1;filter=advanced;orderby=bowling_average;qualmin1=5;qualval1=matches;spanmax1=20+Feb+2013;spanmin1=20+Feb+2011;spanval1=span;template=results;type=bowling See where Anderson is. Hilfenaus, Pattinson, Harris, Siddle and even Watson have outperformed Anderson. When I say proven performer, it means something more than home track bully or an injury prone athlete. Would you, given a choice, seriously pick any of the ones mentioned ahead of Anderson ? Siddle is currently ahead of Anderson in test rankings by virtue of bullying SL at home while Anderson played 4 tests in India & 3 in UAE in 2012 other than facing the #1 side at home. FYI The last time the two sides (Eng/Aus) met each other, Anderson was miles ahead of any Aussie bowler.
Vivek.S.123 Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Siddle, Starc, Pattinson, Warner, Watson and Clarke are the only threats in this Australian team. We should be able to overcome everyone else in the team comfortably.
imranraf Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 India would win with spinners playing big part in the game.
NareshK Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 This Australian side has beaten Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka very recently with Herath, Randiv and batsmen like Sanga, Jaya, Samaraweera, Dilshan in their side and beating them at home is very tough and something that even India hasnt done in a while. India with its lack of experience and current form has to do really well to beat them.

Sandeep99 Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 I believe Aussies are going to put up a great show...India will do well in the 1st test and still lose the series, ditto to the England one... somehow I don't find enough steam in our team to last an entire series! 3 test series' are ideal for us...forget about 4 or 5..

The other top scorer in that series was Shaun Marsh who is no longer in the team and was India's only bunny in our 4-0 thrashing :haha:
khanjee Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 india should win with no problem considering Virat and Gambo had challenge aus india mai jeet kar dekhaoo (even tho GG is not in the team anymore) india all the way, afterall its payback time

NareshK Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 ^^Dhoni will not make Australia follow on if the lead is just 260 odd runs. There goes your prediction out the window. :cantstop:
