I think what Aakash Chopra said is right re: Sehwag. He should go to County cricket and score runs there. If he does he can get back in for South Africa.

Maybe prompt him to fake-illness when he sees grass on the pitch or change batting order according to your form? Just funny how people forget all the things Ganguly did back in his day when he kept backing sh1t players like Mongia, Bangar etc. And now he's like the 2nd coming of god and will resurrect Indian cricket and bring it back to no.1

Cricinfo reports this is how it happens according to the BCCI rules. There is no theory or rationale behind this.

Players of stature playing on even when they are repeatedly failing is the biggest problem faced by most teams. I hope the same principle is followed for other players and if they start looking good again, they can come back.

There is nothing wrong in the first statement. Second statement ... there is a huge fallacy in that argument. It effectively means you can be crap and cannot get dropped, as long as a few other team members are also crap. Sehwag hasn't been playing well for 2 years, doesn't look like getting any better, deserves to be dropped, as simple as that. And I don't think Ganguly has anything against Dhoni. In fact all the recent retirees like Ganguly, Kumble, Dravid and Laxman have respect for Dhoni, in fact too much respect I'd say. Ganguly is only disappointed at Sehwag's exclusion, he believes he's still good, which is okay, it's just his opinion. But his argument is ridiculous though.

Sehwag has been poor home and away for many years now, as mentioned on here partly his reflexes going and his inability to move his feet, plus he is dropping sitters in the slip, with his physique where else can he field? Fine leg? Also we have won these 2 test matches carrying Bhaji, Ishant, Jadega (yes he contributed but he is neither a batsman or bowler especially overseas, a bit part player who will chip in at home), Sehwag, maybe Kumar. Also the pitch has made Australian fast bowlers totally ineffective plus they have been clueless how to bowl and have no variations. Additionally when you play against 1 "spinner" (Lyon/Maxwell) who gives you a guaranteed c200 runs per innings and hardly any wickets, is a huge bonus.

I can understand that he is entitled to his opinion, but Sehwag has done next to diddly squat in the last 2 years and had developed a huge ego. It was about time he was brought down to earth and sent to work himself out.

See Smith has a world beating legit great side with (kallis,steyn,abd,amla) but he has not acheived what dhoni did. We still find fault with him on the slightest of initiation, its funny.
